Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended buckeye fan here, donald washington was a starter, but he was our number two. jenkins is the stud that will go pro (only a junior) and is likely a top 15 pick. weve been hearing that LSU was going to stay off his side of the field as much as possible and try to attack washington. washington is a very good corner who will be missed but chimdi chekwa (his backup) has every bit as much talent, he just isnt as polished. also o'neal is an idiot. at least he will only be in the nickel so he will get dibbs on the third string LSU reciever. another name to remember is andre amos, he can play some corner and will get some reps as well. most buckeye fans arent freaking out about this suspension and dont think that it will affect the outcome of the game to much. LSU's gameplan shouldnt change. OSU still has one of the top secondaries in the country and that will not change. should still be a good game. this isnt like beanie wells or glenn dorsey being out.

Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended this is true. it is eugene clifford who is a true freshman. but no one from the OSU athletic department will say ANYTHING about washington. that is still up in the air. what we do know is that clifford is out for the game. forgot to mention that in my original post. that is no big loss since he doesnt play much. watch the washington story though, he may still be out.

Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended As several others have posted, it is an interesting side note before the game, but in the end, it does not matter. As in every game this year, both teams will show up and play with what they have available. Injuries, suspensions and other matters which impact players being able to play in a game or play at full speed are part of major college athletics. All that matters is that on Jan. 8th one of these teams will have the :crystal: . That team will be National Champ. No excuses.
Re: 2 Ohio State Cornerbacks Suspended As for the first statement, Demetrius Byrd is somewhere smiling if what you say is true. For all practical purposes, Byrd is by and large our 2nd best WR in terms of consistancy, but will be our slot receiver in 3-wide sets. As for your 2nd statement...I wish we had as much confidence in anyone in our secondary being suspended--let alone 2--and possibly a starter. Outside of Zenon and Jackson, there really isn't any other "true corner" that's showed he's ready to assume a more prominant and regular role. Jai Eugene, who's listed as our #3 CB, looked about as lost as a blind man in Time Square when he was pressed into action earlier in the year during our loss to Kentucky...I think they commented on him actually being incorrectly lined up 3 out of the first 5 plays. I'm sure that has since been fixed, but you're not going to get a ringing endorsement out of me if you're actually the 3rd CB but don't know formations/assignments.... But other than that, if you're talking "base defenses", I'd put Jackson, Zenon, Steltz and Taylor against anyone.
