I spent Saturday in the quarter. I had a great time! We spent the afternoon at a place called Razzoo's on Bourbon Street. Ohio St fans outnumbered us 3 to 1 but we had fun anyway. The OSU fans are a good bunch. Geaux Tigers!
Man, I am really surprised to hear all this talk of OSU fans outnumbering us in the city. Now I can ASSURE you that LSU fans are celebrating all over the city. Chances are OSU fans are concentrated in the CBD and FQ areas. Still, when I did the MNC for the 2003 season, we easily outnumbered OU fans in that same area. So I am guessing that OSU travels that much better than OU? Still, I would expect most of the city to be decked out in Purple and Gold tomorrow. Geaux Tigers
We usually have a very good showing for bowl games and big time away games. When word came out that we would be playing LSU I figured we only be outnumbered at around 60% LSU fans to 40% Buckeye fans. An advantage but nothing to horrible. We travel very well.
I heard from an LSU fan on Saturday night that the LSU crowd would be in full force on Sunday, but I would still say the Buckeyes outnumbered the Tigers on Sunday night. The Tiger fans were definitely concentrated in specific areas whereas the Buckeye fans were spread out all along Bourbon St. You'd see waves of LSU fans go through, but the crowd was mostly Ohio State. Being generous, it was a 60/40 split, maybe even 70/30.
LSU will still have the advantage in the Superdome. Most of their fans had a pretty good idea that they have a good shot of playing in the MNC game and probably got tickets early. Can't say that I blame them and OSU fans did the same thing last year.
I just got home from Bourbon St. where I spent the evening from 6pm til around midnight. OSU fans outnumbered LSu fans probably 3 or 4 to 1. They were a fun bunch, but they certainly chanted their own cheers and let LSU fans know that they were the "heavy" crowd. At times when I actually welcomed them and wished them good times around New Orleans, they seemed surprsied and appreciative, I guess because most Tiger fans weren't very friendly to them. Screw that, I'm happy that they're in town spending money. Help my economy, baby!
I saw scores of LSU fans headed that way on I-10 and I-55 today on my way home from work. Bet it is 50-50 by now.
Wow, that's definitely a different feel than the 2004 BCS Title Game. Also, I didn't really hear of any reports of nasty Tiger fans or even Sooner fans in that game. Hopefully Buckeye fans are having a good time. I am sure they are liking the warm and sunny weather, along with the good eats and partying. So here's a question I have for anyone who was down there at the first MNC and this one. Is this one different and why? Was the first one just really special considering the long spell between National Championships that we had AND the fact that we were in our backyard? You have to excuse my curiosity. I was at the last MNC and am unable to make this one.
I was out saturday night and there were plenty of tOSU fans... to be honest I usually notice all of the good fans when i go on road trips, but tOSU fans last night were rude and obnoxious
It'll get a lot worse after the game. For your own safety, I'd get away as far as possible from OSU fans- they'll start turning over cars and burning couches and destroying whatever they can lay their paws on.
