He had two players on offense that year basically. It is Starkville. Only guy I think could MAYBE win a national title there is Saban, and that I'm uncertain about.
2-15 against ranked teams. (I think both wins were against us). Lost at home on senior night to a shitty Ole Miss team. I know they lost their QB, but they didn't lose anyone on defense that I'm aware of. Plays not to lose when the pressure is ratcheted up. Then again, both of the guys they wanted spurned them, so I guess he's the best they could do. But 7m? Really?
need more than just a QB to win a natty. and without cheating (hell, even with cheating) its hard to get those people to go to Starkville, MS.
I wouldn't call it settling. Mullen is a proven winner. Anybody who can get good enough players to come to StarkVegas to at least briefly be the #1 team in the country can flat out coach.
Tradition and commitment to facilities and such are completely different though. Starkville doesn't even have an airport. There's just zero comparison between the two schools and their programs.
Do they even have a Greyhound Bus Station? Does Tuscaloosa have an airport? I thought you had to fly to Burn in and take the bus from there.
Mullen did develop Dak when no one else thought he would make a decent QB. He also found Fitzgerald. I give him cred for that. But yea, $7M?
