I am more than content with the "experts" and other fans giving Miles a low ranking. I doubt he looks to them for validation. He probably just glances at the Coaches Trophy on his way in to work or casually looks at his bank account for that feeling. As long as he keeps recruiting at a high level(he has), keeps winning 10+ games per year(he has), continues to destroy OOC opponents(he has), and also wins championships(he has - notice a trend here?), these writers will continue to perpetuate their own stupidity. I don't want band wagon fans or sports writers. With each victory Miles makes them look less like skeptical experts, and more like petty hating morons with an inability to admit they were wrong.
I don't doubt any of what you said here. However, I believe that this sort of logic speaks quite ill of the credibility that we should lend to these supposed experts. Results speak for themselves, and simply cannot be denied. They can nit-pick over whatever sound bite they like. But, as Coach Miles himself said, you must look at the entire body of work. If a conference and national championship don't relieve any doubts that some might have, then it's glaringly obvious that such individuals have a remarkably low football IQ, and their opinions are rendered irrelevant.
their seventh place team was roughly seventh in the country when that game happened. a lot happens during the course of a season. Cal did still win, but you didn't tell the full truth.
