Being in the Mountain time zone I can watch the early games on the weekend. I'll continue following the WC on the Net. I'm semi hooked.

    WOW!!!

The limey's got screwed. Ray Charles if he was still with us would have known it was a goal.

That they did. The officials cause another incident. They have to come up with a plan to fix these lapses in officiating.

Why don't they have instant replay on goals/no goals? They certainly have the technololgy.

4-1 beat down. England has looked poor this whole World Cup... which is shocking being that this English team has probably the best collection of superstars on the planet... Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Cole (England is the only team that has more than one of the 8 highest-paid players in the world playing for them in the World Cup, and England has 4 of them). Interestingly, this is the first time in English history that they went with an Italian coach... an Italian coach that coached greats such as AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Juventus. What an astonishing failure by the Three Lions (or should we say the Three Kittens).

because FIFA is living in the past. All their excuses don't line up. Maybe they just like the drama that comes along with blown calls. who knows.

The drama and the history (liberals vs conservatives thing). All great sports have a hard time getting away from that, and its always big news when they do. Remember when Wimbledon went to the computer stuff? Why doesn't baseball allow a computer to call strikes/balls instead of the ump? Like the game announcers pointed out, FIFA has been seriously debating goal-line techonology, but decided against it. For example, this article from March 2010 about it:
FIFA.com - IFAB decides not to pursue goal-line technology
