And the SEC is lighting the world on fire this year? :insane:

Please, every conference has their down years. The Big Ten was great earlier this decade....the SEC wasn't so much. The coin has flipped the past few years...and this year it is about equal.

The SEC this year is Florida, Alabama, and everyone else. The Big Ten is Penn State, Ohio State, and everyone else. Today's games against the ACC (UF beating FSU, GT beating UGA, and CU beating USC) exposed certain two teams in the SEC as being not all they are cracked up to be.

Not to mention, I could easily turn that around and say that UF lost to Ole Miss, who has an equal record to Iowa (both 8-4)...with Ole Miss losing to teams with a combined record of 31-15 by a combined 19 points and Iowa losing to teams with a combined record of 31-16 by a combined 12 points.

Does this mean we should rave on and on about Florida losing to Ole Miss...a weak team in a weak conference...and that Florida doesn't deserve to go to the BCSNCG? Because based on your logic, that should be the case.

Ole Miss is a dangerous team.

Florida is the only team worth mentioning in the SEC. Bama is an afterthought.

You surely can't say Penn State beats Florida on a neutral field. Penn State is a great story, but not in the same category as Florida.

So now we just need to concentrate on the argument at hand. Penn State or the best the Big 12 has to offer? I don't see many hands raised for PSU. Sorry.

The OSU game was a true defensive battle in the opponent's stadium. I actually guarantee that if Beanie Wells was healthy, and if USC had played in Ohio Stadium...that game would have been a lot closer.

And yes...OSU's curse versus SEC teams has hurt our conference. They will have a chance to make it up against Jawja in the Capital One Bowl, though. I'm not holding my breath.

Well then lets just put Utah and Boise State in it... their both undefeated. Nothing to argue now.
All i'm saying is because of the last 2 seasons, the Big 10 would have trouble getting anyone into the game because of their dismantling in NC games. I was actually hoping to see PSU go undefeated, but it didn't happen and it happened a little too late in the season.

USC just felt sorry for tOSU and the outcome should have been worse.

All I have to say is that you don't know unless the game is played, and unfortunately it won't (most likely).

Re: PSU vs. Big XII....I only think PSU should make it if OSU beats OU (sending TTU to the Big XII title game) or if MU lights the world on fire in the Big XII title game and wins the championship. Like I said before, I have never supported sending teams who do not win their conference/division to the BCSNCG, especially based on the history of such teams in the game.

And this is where a playoff should be the case. I believe that teams like Utah and BSU who go undefeated without any chance to play in the title game are unfairly treated because what if one of them really deserves it? We wouldn't know because there is no way for them to show it.

If we had an 8 team playoff, we could take the Big XII, Big Ten, Pac 10, and SEC conference champions (all BCS conference champions ranked in BCS top 10 or 15), Utah (best mid-major team), +3 at large teams...the best in the top 10 who aren't a major BCS conference champion (BSU could be one of these). It really is the only fair way.

Winning your conference should be a pre-req to see the NC game.

This just in... LSU won't be playing for one either! Considering how our season has gone, why in the hell would anyone be concerned about how USC is playing? I'm damned glad we don't have to play them, or Boise State, or Ball State, or Louisiana Tech for that matter. I'd even hate to play Troy State again.
