you could pose the question, how many championships do you think the bulls would have won, if Kobe would have been inserted into the lineup in MJ's absence.

You know it's going to totally go against every argument i made but i think he would have won 1. the 94 - 95 season. They lost to Orlando in the conference semi's, the same Orlando team that went on to lose to Rockets in 4. Also MJ played in like 20 or so games that season i think......

That would be the better question, but as MM points out very hard to debate. The landscape of the NBA is so different now as compared to then.

In fact you could argue they were a horrendous call away from getting to the conference finals when they played the Knicks. In game 5 a ticky tack foul called on Chicago gave the Knicks 2 shots at the free throw line to win the game. Chicago wins that game, they win the series in 6.

I definitely remember that foul, just horrible to even think of.

You have to have a **** load of talent to three-peat in the NBA. No need to belittle players to make MJ look better. MJ was a badass with anyone.

A lot of people forget that Ron Harper was a 20+ ppg scorer and went to the Bulls to be the 3rd or 4th guy. Also, at the end of their careers, Horance Grant and Harper each started for the Lakers during their first title run.

Now lets be honest - these are pretty equal.

    Bulls:
    G BJ Armstrong
    G Michael Jordan
    G Scottie Pippen
    F Horace Grant
    F Bill Cartwright

    Lakers
    G Derek Fisher
    G Kobe Bryant
    F Rick Fox
    F Deveon George
    C Shaquille O'Neal
    _______________________________

    Bulls
    G Ron Harper
    G Michael Jordan
    G Scottie Pippen
    F Dennis Rodman
    C Luc Longley

    Lakers
    G Derek Fisher
    G Kobe Bryant
    G Trevor Ariza
    F Andrew Bynum
    F Pau Gasol

I wasn't belittling anyone, well except the Bulls bigs when MJ was there. And i'm sorry the only thing that might be the equalizer in those lineups is Michael Jordan. You take Mike and Kobe off those 2 lineups and i take the Lakers line up all day every day.

Correct and even Phil Jackson has made comments like these.

Many of the so called experts where going down the playoff roster for team matchups to show the talent and who should win each series and the Lakers and Celtics are by far the better stacked teams. For example the Cavs vs Celtics series the best players would look like this.

    Lebron
    Garnett
    Pierce
Rando ( I put Rando above Allen not the ESPN guys)
    Allen
    Jamison
    Mo Williams
    Etc...

Do that with the Bulls and Laker Dynasties and it would look to similar to the example above.

    ONeal way up there

then Odom, Artest, Gasol then Pippen and then back to Lakers players.

I think if you took the starters there wouldnt be a huge difference. The Bulls had better guard play, the Lakers were better in the front-court. And the leagues were completely different so it is hard to compare them.

Of course this only matters if all of the other teams were similar, but they are not. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. best teams in the NBA today are better than the teams from the 90's. The league is much deeper.
