I just thought there should be a NASCAR thread on the Pro Sports Forum. Post your thoughts and info and NASCAR stories here
Man, I was watching the race last Sunday and I was wondering what happened to NASCAR? The stands looked like there were a lot of empty seats. I heard DW say that the tickets were all sold but it sure didn't look as if they all showed up. I personally lost a lot of interest after Dale Sr. died and just never had the passion for it like I did when he was still on the track. I still watch it when I get the chance but back in the day I wouldn't miss a race (unless it was Michigan, hate that track, and now Fontana cause it is the same damn track) I'm not a big fan of the COT or the restrictor plates but we have Bill Elliot to thank for that. Anyway, I'd like to see it get back to where it was in the boom a few years ago but I think for the time being it is a casualty of the economy.
Just can't dig it. Absolutely nothing about nascar appeals to me. I even ate mushrooms on the lawn at Texas Motor Speedway and still nothing....
I used to be that way, then a friend talked me into going sit in a little hole in the wall bar one Sunday and explained everything that was going on and I was hooked. It's really some intense shit but I get that it isn't for everyone. The "lawn" "infield" "campground" has a plethora of "activities" and you don't have to look very hard to find it
They have already replaced the COT and the drivers like the new car a lot better. I do love the plate races. The Big One is always just around the next turn and usually something happens in the last lap or two. I also love the short tracks, especially Bristol. Its the mile and a half cookie cutter track I don't like
Mushrooms give you super powers and make you invincible. You could have wandered right on to the track and been part of the action
Did Jeff Gordon win the pole or does he smoke pole? http://www.i4u.com/2014/03/68621/jeff-gordon-hoax-claims-nascar-driver-turned-out-be-gay
I love the plate races, just not the plates. Wish they would take the damn things off and let them run. Bill Elliot turned a lap of 212 mph at Talladega and I don't remember who it was, maybe Rusty Wallaces' car actually flew. The tabs on the top of the car pretty much keep them from going airborne for long anymore. Damn safety always messing up all the fun stuff.
The plates keep the cars from running away from the pack and keep them bunched up Open wheel cars are faster than NASCAR but open wheel racing isn't much fun to watch. A few years ago Marco Andretti was leading on the last lap of the Indy 500 and he actually moved over to let Sam Hornish in a faster car pass him for the win. Can you imagine Tony Stewart ever moving out of the way for anybody? Or any NASCAR drive moving out of anybody's way?
