Let's see, last season, 10-2. '06, 10-2. Last season, beat Tulane by 25. This season, beat Tulane by 25. This season, rebuild at 9-3? Yes, I'm OK with that too.:thumb: Bottom line, LSU fans are spoiled. A bunch of us think that we should win every game we play, and we should obliterate every "subpar" team we play...they should never cross the 50...and CERTAINLY never score. Very unrealistic expectations. And for what it's worth, I don't give a shet if we win ugly from now til eternity. It is NOT how you win and "loose"...it's simply whether you win or lose. Agree on the appearance of a lack of effort. That was hashed out earlier in the thread, when a couple of us were saying put Baker in at LB. However, we were only "bombed" once. Last week, (which is over by the way), we lost by 14 points...and gave up 17 due to ints...14 directly. We were not "bombed". Against UF, we were bombed...all over the field...all night long. UF did the same skulldragging to UGA today, and will do it to Bama in the SECCG. They are the real deal. Last year, they "rebuilt", and lost 4 games. This year, they are impressive as hell. Be patient!
Post VT game last year, our defense sucked. The offense won games for us. Now this year, we have problems (that were expected) on offense, and the defense still sucks. I don't know why in blue hell people thought we were gonna be lights out on defense. I will say I thought the DL was gonna be sick, and it should be. But the LBs and secondary? We KNEW we were hurting back there. Top it off with new "Co DCs", and this is what you get.
First, I predicted LSU would lose to Florida and Georgia this year so I wasn't surprised when we did. I was surprised at the amount of scoring we allowed. Second, the defensive line was expected to be much better than it has so far proven to be. Third, winning is the bottom line. As the cliche goes, an ugly win is better than a pretty lose. But if you don't get rid of the ugly it will come up to bite you. Fourth, being critical of LSU when they play poorly does not mean I am any less an LSU fan than someone who is never critical.
FWIW, I was not responding to anything you said. I was responding to the people I quoted. Secondly, I was surprised we lost to UGA...and at the time, surprised at how we lost to UF. Now that time has passed, I'm not surprised at how we lost to UF, and it has more to do with UF than LSU. Third, winning is the bottom line...period. Go check out the '92 season. Bama won ugly consistently...until they beat the hell out of Miami in the Sugar Bowl to take the national championship. LSU won ugly several times last year, and it bit them in the arse a couple of times, until they beat the hell out of tOSU in the CG. Just win. Fourth, I certainly don't think it makes anyone less of a fan if they criticize. I criticize LSU myself at times, and would be a hypocrite if I said it makes you less of a fan. In fact, we criticize BECAUSE we are fans...aka fanatical. As I said, I wasn't referring to you BB. But there are some posts that reek of unrealistic expectations...and not just in this thread. When people are questioning the coaches for their recruiting because freshman are making freshman mistakes, I think it's silly. We lost out on Joe McKnight, and look how he's tearing it up at USC. Oh wait, he's not. I guess that means Petey is a bad evaluator of talent, or USC's coaches are doing a bad job of coaching that talent up.:rolleye33: I agree there are questions that need to be answered. But it is not the end of the world here, and we KNEW there would be questions to be answered. I agree it's frustrating to watch at times, but I think it's funny to watch people complain after a 25 point win. The board was full of people complaining after we beat MSU 45-0 last season too. That's just unrealistic. We didn't completely blow them out before halftime, so we "struggled" in the eyes of some. Lee needs to stop throwing pick 6's, and the defense needs to find itself. There's my complaints. I'm not a coach, so that's as far as I can go with it. But I noticed Matthew Stafford threw 3 picks against UF, including a pick 6. (I think) Knowshon and he have been embarrassed in two big games this year so far. This was the preseason #1...and they have the same record as LSU right now, who was expected to be in a rebuilding year. That's all I'm saying. When it's good, it's good. When it's bad, it ain't that bad.:thumb:
