Well let’s see – Ole Miss starts the season off with a big 2 pt win over that CUSA powerhouse Memphis. Then they get into mid-season form with a 24-0 shutout of LaTech. Then they start the home stretch of their non-championship season by letting Northwestern State score 31 points on them. They are 3-7 without a conference win – and one of those 3 wins is against a non-BCS school. We will see what the crowd looks like – there were only about 25 or 26 thousand for the Northwestern game. If LSU is ahead by two or more touchdowns at the half, you probably won’t see much red or blue in the stadium for the second half. It is not that I am not worried, I know Ole Miss always seems to get up for LSU. But I have faith in this year’s Tigers and the coaching staff. We will win – it might not be as pretty as I like, but we will win. For all their faults, I have confidence in this team – they know how to win. ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: lefire:
It's the SEC - extreme confidence is self delusion. Tulane, like LA Tech, had nothing to lose and held NOTHING back, emotionally or otherwise. Both eventually got their arses handed back to them, uncomfortably. We crushed the Bulldogs 58-10 with our bench (ALL of our bench) playing most of the second half. Don't worry, be happy! :geaux:
What do they have to lose? I can almost see them, winning the toss and electing to kick off...Then going with the onside kick. I can see O trying to embarrass them by using the same fake field goal with the overhand toss to the kicker. The Tigers better watch out for any tricks............The Tigers are the only ones with anything at stake.:geaux:
I'm in violent agreement! :thumb: My point is that LSU is supposed to be the #1 team in the country with the best defense in the country. Bring it! If we really are the best, then Ole Miss will hang on with pure emotion for a bit, then collapse under the mass of LSU's depth, strength and conditioning. If Ole Miss upsets LSU, then LSU isn't #1. One thing is certain. There is ZERO excuse for looking past, around, or through any game from here on. Personally, I'm leaning towards a full-up blow out, maybe even a shut out. But I'm not complete with my reading yet. FEAR THE HAT! :milesmic:  :LSU231:
I think all Tiger fans are very well aware that we are the only team with anything to loose in our next two games. The Rebs and the Razorbacks are both just playing to win and a win against LSU this year might be enough to save some coaches their jobs and give the players a feeling of accomplishing something. I have no doubt the Rebs will pull out any stops that are left and go for broke. I have no doubt their problem in this game, just like every game the season, is execution. They just don’t seem to be ready for games – they have a few good players who have athletic ability, but the execution and focus just does not seem to be there. I really don't think Oh No is delivering - he gets some very good players, but for the most part they just don't pan out. lefire: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule:
At USC, he proved his ability to recruit..and coach defense.....at OM, he has brought in some fine players.......but someone has to COACH them........believe it or not, if he came to LSU, to recruit and coach defense, you would love him. CAJUN accent and all................ and with the real truth to offer hs kids, who knows.
lefire: always plays:helmet: well, I feel that this year might be a little different though. We are a much stronger team than we have been in the past. We keep getting off to slow starts, but by the second half we are who we are. I just don't see lefire: being able to go the whole game. I just don't think that they are that good. But just in case, I will be drinking by 12, so I can be good and mellow by the time the game comes on. :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux:
I believe we should be able to run the ball against their defense. But do expect them to try and stack the line to stop the run. LSU should then be able to pass to setup the run. I hope that LSU can get off to a fast start offensively and sustain it. I am hopeful to see improvement in special teams and also reduction in silly penalties. Coach O will have them fired up and ready to play. I expect LSU to gain separation in second half. :LSU231: 35 lefire: 20 :helmet: :crystal: :crystal: :geaux: :milesmic:
