Actually I heard that Jerry Palm (I think) was on Sporting News radio saying it should be LSU and he thinks it will be LSU unless the ABC/ESPN campaign is successful. I also read that the Rose Bowl commish was interviewed on Jimmy Ott and said ESPN/ABC does have a say in the match up and that Texas has a larger national following that LSU (hence their selection). Not good. On a good note, Michigan fans are revolting even to the point where some are suggesting (insanely) that Michigan turn down the Rose if they select ND. One person made a GREAT suggestion and said that if Rose takes ND, then Sugar take LSU and have 2 rematches which would throw the whole damn bowl games in disarray.
Are you joking!? That trip was great. We really enjoyed it and met soem great LSU fans out there during our brief stay. Aztiger03 and his family were great hosts in Tempe!
You got bad secondhand information there. Yes, Ott did have the CEO of the Rose Bowl on his show today. He said that LSU was very comparable to Texas a couple of years ago. Even though LSU is in a smaller state he believed LSU would send just as many fans.
obviously you are looking at this blindly b/c the LSU "type" fans are the ones who spend the most money on souvenirs to beer to hotels to nightlife. the majority of your upperclass are old people who spend and do less on those type things resulting in less money. take sabanfan for example, that bastard won't even go to a bowl game and he's only 96. however, they are going to base their decision on overall ticket sales when it comes down to it because any fanbase willing to travel such a distance is going to spend cash at a great rate and it wont be your upperclass citizen on average. You're assuming every fan who travels is an alum of the school which is far from the truth. Its probably much less than 1/4th if i had to guess and if so, 3/4ths of your ND fans attending are simply fans, not alum with elite jobs as you assume. LSU should be able to sell as well as anyone and even moreso if history is any indication.
You would be surprised at how big a difference that 25% makes. It appears we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
If this thing happens, we're going to leave immediately upon exiting the Superdome for the Saints/Panthers game 12/31. Trying to charter a private plane as we speak.
