I'm feeling pretty good about this. The story lines are there. One of Bo Schembechler's former players brings his team to the Rose Bowl to play the team that embodies the life of the man. They really have the opportunity to do something great and meaningful with this matchup. They will pay tribute to the the late Schembechler in a very special way with the Michigan vs. LSU matchup. Some other things that will make this game possible: - Two top 5 teams and the Rose Bowl has the first two picks. - *Michigan* fans would not have travelled as well for a Notre Dame rematch as they will for a LSU matchup. - The game will be more competitive with LSU, a no-brainer for sure. - LSU will send just as many, if not more, fans to the Rose Bowl than ND ever would have. - TV viewers will still be around and watching all of those commercials during the second half since the game will be close. - LSU is awesome and ND sucks. - LSUGradin99 is already making plans to watch his tigers play in the Rose Bowl.
That would be absolutely amazing, especially for me. I live about 35 miles away from the Michigan campus and have to deal with UM and OSU D*cks here all the time. With an LSU win i get to talk crap to them for the next few years Anyways, LSU-Michigan in the Rose Bowl just has a good ring to it. It'd also be LSU's 4th top 5 team and 5th top 10 team played this year...thats absolutely insane.
Im with ya boss. If they choose ND, they might as well remove the SEC from the BCS. It will be a joke if LSU doesn't go to the Rose. Besides the championship game, LSU/Mich will be the best bowl game this year hands down.
I think we are definatley going to the RB. I think people are starting to realize that our 2 loses are not reflective of our level of play. Besides we have some of the best traveling fans in the nation!
I already predict if you sticky this that it will go down in the anals of TF as the most viewed and replied to thread. I don't think that prediction is premature on my part. I think we have this one in hand.
I think a lot of people here are missing out on the bigger issue here. There is more to it than Notre Dame history and tradition. Sure most of America cares more about ND than they do about LSU, but that's not the only thing the Rose Bowl is looking at. Of all the major football schools, I would venture to guess that the average LSU fan's yearly income is near the bottom of that list. Notre Dame fans are probably closer to the top of that list. Who do you suppose they would rather coming into their town--the fan's that will eat at McDonalds and stay at the Holiday Inn, or the fans who will stay in the nicer hotels and pump far more money into the local economy? It's a big factor in the decision.
