Please show me where I made an excuse. I just asked why you don't measure the O with the same stick? Your Jeckle and Hyde act is eerily familiar.
I have already commented on the OL but perhaps there is a comprehension issue going on here. I said that OL in HS usually have one area stronger than the other in their game (run blocking vs pass blocking). LSU clearly goes after the run blockers more like Pocic for example. That is fine if your running game is dominant and you have enough OL in case one gets hurt, etc. What Studrawa failed at were 2 things....1) not recruiting enough quality OL as starters to begin with...hence the holes at C and RG and 2) if someone gets hurt like in the Arkansas game, LSU's OL goes to pot.
And then with Grimes at the helm of the OL recruiting/coaching, I have already mentioned a huge upgrade over Studrawa. Recruits much better and if you read the OL comments by the players, they said in a diplomatic way that Grimes is a much better coach. Not only does he teach technique but also awareness. Specifically, they said Studrawa never asked them to look for blitzes that didn't affect them directly. They said Grimes came in and it was your job as an OL to try to identify the blitzers but also to try to view the overall defense in front of them. I could see that being very valuable. For example, blitz comes from the outside, might be a hot receiver route and thus might need to cut your guy. Might be a soft rush in which it could end up being a long pass or eventual QB draw. I said years ago after Studrawa was not putting guys in the pros that a change had to be done. Not only didn't he evaluate talent very well, he didn't improve players, and as James Smith confirmed to me one time, it was being used against LSU big time in recruiting. They were hearing about it in homes of prospects that OL were not being sent to the NFL like Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, etc. Grimes will change all that...LSU will recruit better OL and be better coached. After all, it was Grimes sending those OL to the NFL from Auburn to begin with. Great hire and said so at the time like most did.
Well, what it really is is a terrible excuse to not say that Jennings sucks. He has come up with every excuse in the book, our OL, the WR's, the TE's the equipment managers, most of the coaches and @tirk all suck...but not Jennings
