Big mistake holding it open for Foster. We need a QB, sure, but Foster wasn't coming here. I would have gone hard after Goodrich from the second I felt that Foster was lukewarm and if Surtain had signed what's wrong with having 2 really good corners at DBU even if we don't get a QB.
Yep; missing on QB is unforgivable, but that was water under the bridge at that point. Missing on CB with 4 on roster is beyond unforgivable, it dumb.
O did the same thing with a running back and we ended up losing Etienne to Clemson, looking at what Etienne did for Clemson last season, it sure would be nice if we had him...
agree with all of that but him taking us for a ride was the point i was making yesterday... surtain talking about "they win championships" was the reason why he made his decision was bs... they didn't all of a sudden win those games at 11 at night the night before NSD... he knew where he was going and kept it a secret... he should've been man enough to state earlier so the team could move on... still on O though for going after the 2 in the bush... i learned that your word is your bond or to quote scarface, "all i have in this world is my balls and my word"... this younger generation is different, i guess...
Tb3 is saying regardless what PS said in a 1 minute clip it's not likely why. Its much more complex like any life decision you make. Winning is certainly part of it. Having the best coach in college football history over this whatever it is we have well he cant really say that without offending the state. His dream was to come here. I'm sure it sucks that we have a proven mediocre HC which influenced his decision heavily. When he committed ed wasnt the HC. Or did he ever actually commit. He just said we were in the lead then Bama gave him a buttload of money late that night. Cant really blame him. Saban over Orgeron is like choosing between Melissa Mccarthy and Jordan Lovings sister.
I imagine the kid struggled with it. You were never in anguish between two choices until the last minute before? This is on O, not Surtain. Maybe if we beat ND it woulda been different. Maybe hiring a hot OC vs E (or avoiding the Canada fiasco altogether). Maybe not losing underclassmen to the draft that should be staying.
It is a certainty that O didn’t get Surtain or any CB this recruiting cycle. Maybe there is a superstar graduate transfer CB who decided not to go to the NFL just to see what college program might take him, but you know what they say about maybe.
i have been in anguish over a decision... but my point is, if my decision affected two parties, i wouldn't have strung them along like he did... per the article i read, he didn't tell O until 11 pm on tuesday that he wasn't coming to LSU... that means, for 2 years that ed has been recruiting him, he's been saying something different... enough to give the coaches the impression that he was more than likely coming to LSU, which caused them to basically hold a spot for him... O's fault for taking surtain's word and holding a spot, yes... but all the maybe scenarios you gave, none of them happened at 11 pm on tuesday... that's all i'm saying...
@didit in a perfect world this would hold more water. I'm pretty sure these kids have proven over the last 10-12 years they are about as trustworthy as a mesh condom. Eds fault for trusting him.
