For example, the LSU WRers in the Alabama game were hideous. Trey Quinn in the 4th quarter alone of that game dropped 2 perfectly thrown passes on 2 different 3rd downs that would have been 1st downs. Travis Dural runs a simple slant route...he falls down...and the Jennings pass goes right to the Alabama defender that SHOULD have been behind a standing up Dural. But Dural had his face in the turf 5 yards from where he should have been. But wait, I forgot...that is Jennings fault that Quinn dropped 2 passes for 1st downs and that Dural simply can't stand up running pass patterns. And Dupre seems to make good catches but the DBs know that if he is near the sideline to lean on him. He is so thin right now, they can literally ride the guy out of bounds. That is why the passing game is QB + OL + WR + OC playcalling. Anybody who thinks overwise needs to take up analyzing curling or something.
First of all welcome, you seem to have jumped in here with both feet in our forum discussions. But you must be watching vastly different football games than we are. What QB's did we play last season that are worse than Jennings? Many of us are very frustrated that OSU, ND etc. can have backup QB's that step into games, look poised, and be effective by knowing the plays/making good decisions. And if you can't subjectively look at our QB play and see reality, then look at the 2014 SEC stats. Jennings was last among the 13 starters in completion percent and in the bottom two of almost every other critical stat. This other SEC quarterbacks playing against SEC defenses. It does take many different parts to make a passing game effective. But we have pretty good RB's, not a bad OL, and a strong 'want' to run the ball. Teams are defending the run against us and daring us to pass. The indecision and inaccuracy Jennings exhibits is a major problem. OL can block better. Defense could get a few more takeaways. However, we do not have an 'average' college quarterback. Go back and ask all your sources that are dogging Harris if they really think Jennings knows the plays and makes good decisions and is an 'average' QB. Here is hoping both Jennings and Harris improve in the off season.
Oh damn. Kenny Hill benched himself with his two game suspensions. It was after the game, but not due to the game.
Thanks for the welcome. Harris was worse than Jennings. In the Auburn game he was 3 of 14. Jennings outplayed the ND quarterbacks in the bowl games...NOT my opinion, look up the QB ratings for the game. Once again, you equate passing game with QB play, NOT the same thing. You know those other SEC teams...they actually had pass receiving TEs. They actually had better pass protection. They actually had more imaginative play calling so it wasn't 3rd and long a lot of the time. They actually had better WRers for the most part. If I had to rate the LSU receivers as a group...maybe about 10th best in the SEC. You asked about which SEC QBs, LSU played were worse than Jennings (in the LSU games will be my answer) . Ok, Driskel was worse vs LSU than Jennings was vs Florida...Sims was worse...Bad Bo for OM was worse....Kenny football was benched before he could face LSU but Allen didn't do much...KY QB did squat. So in MOST of the LSU vs SEC games, Jennings was superior to the other QB. Not just making plays counts...turnovers count. Ask Hugh Freeze what he thought of Bad Bo throwing away the game. Ask Kevin Sumlin....ask Muschamp about Driskell at the end of the LSU game, etc, etc, etc.
No, Jennings played like shit vs Bama as well as the WR's. Over the entire season, Jennings was the worse of the group. Not really up for debate.
Wow, if Jennings play like shit vs Alabama, then i hate to think how Blake Sims played. Because LSU dominated total yardage until there was 45 seconds left in regulation and 3rd and Chavis put up his marshmellow defense. Soooo no, Jennings was not the worst QB in the SEC...that is not to say that LSU might not have had the worst passing game. Not the same thing.
