The track guy in the group is Donte Jackson who is fairly small and will mostly play on the defensive side of the ball as a CB. But the fact that many people say he might be the next PR and KOR and the fact that in HS he was definitely used on offense shows that he is the guy you might be wanting to see. Dillion I think would be next in speed and T Johnson probably after that. Jackson - 10.36 100m
Right about going after DEs and simply didn't get probably the 3rd one that would have been perfect...like a CeCe Jefferson. LSU I believe only offered 1 DT to any extent...Daylon Mack. When you have Lacouture, Godchaux, and now Trey L and T Valentine, DT wasn't a priority. Plus, LA is loaded with great DTs in 2016 class after having 0 this year of note. I blame Chavis for the LB drought...the guy went nuts on his "hybrid LBer" philosophy which is why he didn't go after Arthur McGinnis at all, didn't go after Leo Lewis hard enough, etc. I agree with your OL analysis. Clearly the coach recruiting star of this class was Jeff Grimes who brought in the best set of OL on paper I can really remember....certainly for a long time. The RBs, WRers, and Secondary guys are fine. Really not signing LBers and not getting a franchise QB was the shortfall.
Good grief, what are you the cousin of @TigerTap or something. There is just no reasoning with your kind.
No, I'm utterly amazed that everyone equates QB = passing game. The passing game is the QB, the OL, the WRers, the TEs, and what kind of playcalling is done to keep the defense off balance. For the last point, running twice between LT and LG to bring up 3rd and 6 is not exactly ideal. For the record, if you think LSU is the only team with a QB issue, A&M benched Kenny Football, everyone called the Ole Miss QB "Good Bo and Bad Bo", Vandy tries a reject LSU QB, Florida benched Driskell, Blake Sims was 1 game away from being benched at Alabama, Arkansas QB Brandon Allen didn't do well, Matty Mauk at Missouri had 4 INTs and 1 fumble in the GA game, etc, etc, etc.
Geez, ya think? I never ever considered it may include more than just the QB, what a concept. Every QB you listed did better than the shit show we threw out there. Hell, include Harris if you want, it only furthers my point. The second half of that is if YOU don't think we have problems with Jennings as QB then, well, I guess you would have to color me "utterly amazed" as well.
So, you didn't care for Jennings 55% completion rate the last 3 games nor the fact that he outplayed the ND QBs in the bowl game. He had a much higher QB rating including averaging 11 yards per pass attempt to their 7 yards per pass attempt. Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your rant. BTW, for the record, LSU lost the Alabama game due to the defense...LSU lost the Notre Dame game due to the defense. In both games, Jennings outsplayed the opposing QBs but believe it or not, he wasn't on the field when Alabama went like 55 yards in about 30 seconds and Notre Dame went 70 yards starting from their own 15. Oh, and Jennings also didn't attempt a FG that got like 2 feet off the ground. And noooooo, Kenny Hill got benched after A&M scoredf 0 points vs Alabama and Stephen Rivers was tried 1 game at Vandy and never played again. Driskel was benched for horrible play and never played again. And I could have sworn that was "Bad Bo" who lost the Ole Miss game vs LSU when he threw that hideous INT when clearly Freeze had told him not to force anything. Apparently, you need to watch other QBs on other teams.
No, while he may be and I'm sure he is a fine young man, smart, articulate, all around good kid, he sucks as a QB. End of story. He has not, will not get any better than the Cap 1 bowl v Iowa. This has been covered, this past year has proven it. 8/26-76-1-1 (12.7) Take a wild ass guess what those are buddy. So yeah, keep telling yourself it was the Defense. If I recall, the Defense gave them the ball inside the 10 yrd line and well...we know how that went. again, you don't want to play this game with me boy. For every on the bubble jack wagon you can come up with I can assure you there are plenty of schools that start new kids and they look a hell of a lot better than anything we have had in the last 10 years to include your golden boy Mett. Please don't think my ire is focused on you personally, it is not. I am just not going to sugar coat shit QB play because it happens to be going on at the school that I love. The guy sucks, plain and simple. Is Harris any better? We don't know, the sample size is simply not large enough and no you cannot count 1 start on the road AT Auburn. By that logic he should have gotten another shot a week or two later because AJ sure as hell didn't tear it up. If anything he ran out there with his gas can and matches and burnt the whole thing down. You have a good night now.
I just love people who isolate facts and ignore others. For example, LSU was supposedly #1 in SEC total defense (yards). And now the other side of the story as the late Paul Harvey used to say. For some unknown, mysterious reason, the SEC includes OOC stats in "SEC stats". If you use ONLY SEC games, LSU drops to 4th. LSU was 11th in sacks and 12th in forcing turnovers. Defense is not just measured in yards...it is measured in big plays, particularly those putting the offense off the field. And what happens in the last 2 minutes of a game is crucial. LSU's defense lost the Alabama and Notre Dame games...pure and simple. Oh, and LSU's defense gave no chance vs Miss State vs Auburn but I will be the first to admit that it wouldn't have mattered anyway. As far as Harris only supposedly getting 1 chance vs Auburn, absolute nonsense. Heard of something called "practice"? That is how players are evaluated from the beginning to decide who starts at RB....QB....MLB, etc. Every single source I have seen says that Harris is NOT prepared to be QB...emotionally....knowing the plays....making the correct decisions, etc. Even Todd Blackledge said "LSU has 2 QBs. One is afraid to throw any ball and the other is not afraid to throw any ball. Both are bad." And once again, the vast, vast majority of teams in FBS have BAD QBs....if you watched those other teams play you would agree with that. Oh, and BTW, if you have ANY weaknesses in your QB game, it WILL be exposed in the SEC which is the best overall defensive conference in the country. In the Pac-12 you can get away with a lot more offensive issues than you can in the SEC. The Pac-12 isn't exactly a great defensive conference.
If Trey Quinn and Dupree knew how to play receiver and catch the football in bounds LSU would have won that game.
