Actually as James Smith has said as have others, LSU needs better YAC guys. Quinn is a possession receiver and Dural is pretty darn inconsistent unless he is the beneficiary of busted coverage. As James Smith said weeks ago when Johnson was deciding between LSU and some others, LSU needs a receiver that is more of an explosive threat. I certainly don't see one on the roster right now. Also, what would help take pressure off of everyone related to the passing game is a quality TE. If you are going to put a TE out there, he needs to be a receiving threat. Otherwise just put another OL out there who would be a better blocker and still catch as many passes as the TEs do....of course that number is close to 0
LSU hasn't had a true game-breaking speedster in a while. Just having a speedster that can break one on the edge keeps the linebackers honest and really opens things up for the other receivers. Anyone in this class with game-changing speed?
I'm excited about this group, especially on offense. I really think the staff looked at what they have on the roster already and made great decisions abput who they were going to target. They went after some bigtime DT's, LB's and DE's and only connected on a couple. However I have a feeling they have have a lot of faith in the players already on the roster and on whom we will have coming in next year. Lewis was a huge disappointment to them as they thought he was in the bag & that hurts. But we are bringing in some amazing football players that will help us compete for an SECW championship and offense is really where we need the help IMO. Our oline depth should be incredible, our RB's & receivers at least as deep & talented. Just pray for one of our QB's to develope under Cam. However I do miss the early 2000's when we were pretty much the bomb in the SECW at getting top players, when Bama was up & down, Auburn was relegated to mostly 3 & a few 4 star players ( of course Tub was damn good at picking out underated players), Arkansas got a few great home grown guys every once in a while, Ole Miss & MOO U were very similar to Arkie except for years when Mississippi had a bunch of guys who made the grades to get into the SEC. Now every damn team in the west brings in a great class! By the way, I tip my hat to all of these new Tigers and especially Kevin Tolliver for being true to his 3 year commitment.
While I'm at it, does anyone else remember the times in the 90's under Curley when we had hardly any good RB's. Since Dinardo started recruiting for LSU we've likely had at least a top five in the nation RB group each year with incredible depth. Georgia might be the only team I can think of which has similar depth over this time span. Boy we develope some great RB's in this state. Maybe that is why we don't have very many great LB's?
Nope, just the realization that a passing game at about 50% completion has more to do than just the QB. Oooorrrr maybe you prefer the 3 for 14 rate that Brandon Harris had in the Auburn game.
