You're going to have to do better if you're going to continue throwing things out here. There's been one guy whose offer was changed to a grayshirt in the last few years. It wasn't a running back, it was a defensive end. HIs name was Darius Philon and he ended up at Arkansas. His high school coach, Kerry Stevenson, is no longer at Vigor High School in Mobile. Philon's offer was changed due to a few things; most notably his knee surgery.
Funny you bring this up. I had a conversation last night at work with one of the Clemson beat writers discussing this very thing. How many of these drama filled situations have we seen over the last...say, five years? Out of those, how many kids can you think of that made the impact, collegiately, that equaled the drama? The first that comes to mind is Nkemdiche and in my opinion he's not lived up to the billing; yet. The biggest one I can think of is Bryce Brown. A lot of that was due to his handler, Brian Butler I believe, but a lot of it was on Bryce as well. Geez...his story...Miami verbal, then didn't sign, then visited several schools only to commit to Tennessee where he did play pretty well his frosh year. Then his brother leaves Miami to go to Kansas State...Bryce follows... In the end, was his career in college anything of note?
No, the truth is the truth. You can try to spin it or write revisionist history all you want. This guy I'm talking about...I can't remember his name...you bring up Philon...had his scholarship offer pulled ON NSD. Sorry guy, high school football ends well before NSD....and he wasn't talking from a hospital (knee surgery). So make whatever excuses you want to for little Nicky....you have to live with that...I don't! Oh, and once again there were 2 players who got "little Nicky's NSD surprise"...1 RB and another player whose position I can't remember. But guy, we don't have to go back to that year...he does every single year including this one.
With Peters (S) out of the picture and Jefferson (DE) out of the picture, I think Reid has an offer from LSU now since I think LSU has a spot. Having said that, I still think he goes to Stanford...great academic institution, near his brother...at least for a while.
I think so too. He got the offer when he was on campus and obviously didn't take it. I think that tells us what we need to know.
No other way to put this. While you remember bits and pieces accurately, you're adding bits and pieces to stories that aren't true. If, IF, you would take the time to actually look these things up you'd find the truth. BUT, you're choosing to throw things out there hoping they'll stick all the while portraying yourself as one who knows what happened. You don't. Don't take it from me. Look it up on that 'puter of yours. Philon, like I said, had his changed to a grayshirt. That was very late in the process but certainly wasn't on signing day. Dude, let me be clear about this. I know these people. His scholarship wasn't pulled. Earlier you mentioned a running back and said his was pulled on signing day. Again. Wrong. The only running back that was offered a grayshirt was Justin Taylor. That happened well before signing day and he agreed to take that route. A week before signing day he told the Alabama staff he was going to stick with Bama and he changed his mind on signing day. And again, it was a knee surgery situation like Philon's. Justin missed his entire senior year due to his ACL injury. Now, Justin is an example of you remembering pieces. He was a running back. He did enroll at Kentucky. He was also a kid talking about of both sides of his mouth. He told multiple outlets he was going to sign with another school on signing day while at the same time telling the Bama staff he was sticking with his commitment. How you are choosing to tell these stories? It's one of two things. You're either just outright lying because you don't know better, or you're repeating what some other fan said who didn't know. Look. It. Up.
Nope, I'm not wrong, and I don't have to look it up. I followed it at the time. Once again, rewrite history, spin it, I don't give a damn! Excuses and fiction doesn't cut it, man! And BTW, the word "commits being processed" is a term specifically attributed to Alabama. If you haven't heard about this, NOT my problem. Anyway, I won't be seeing any more of your posts...problem solved from my end.
Prince Tega just committed to Auburn. Not a big surprise to anyone I don't think since most had Auburn either in the lead or as I did a coin flip or dart throw. I never did think Alabama was a serious player for him....came in way, way too late on him. My guess is LSU might have finished in 2nd but really doesn't matter. At least LSU knows ahead of NSD and can plan accordingly.
