We always seem to get a late defection from a commit and a late surprise signee. Any signs of that yet?
Every year, to make the numbers work. This year there are more that want to sign on signing day, this year more open spots on that day. It will fill fast. But like I always say, most good coaches know who's coming. This is what's going on now, odds to get a kid, who takes his spot if he goes elsewhere. LSU is looking to fill positions, with most, they have done this. After, it's like the NFL Draft, best available player. You just juggle the books/numbers. Having La'el and Hilliard return is a major plus. La'el helps not having to replace an LOT, Turner's loss is not as bad, easier to replace. Hilliard can help in the early games, bringing along the new RB's at a good pace. Looking at the players Red-Shirted from last years class, some forget these players. But a year in the weight room, proper diet and coaching will come into play for these guys. Go look at what Brockers weighed when he came to LSU and his draft weight. LaRon Landry weighed around 180 out of high school. Left LSU over 20 lbs heavier. Many of these kids come from single parent homes, eating fast foods, the proper diet and weight training, the major changes take place.
I could see them moving Evan Washington in to OG, but we'll see how things go in the Spring with the new coach. Looks like we will get a little depth this year on the OL.
He still needs to drop about 40 pounds. I'm surprised that Moffitt hasn't slimmed him up more. SEC defensive linemen are very quick.
The new OL coach Grimes likes a thinner lineman, he's made it known, some are gonna have to drop a few pounds
Everyone is still expected to here is the latest word. Some arrived late last night due to flight delays. Some were in the morning and the rest expected at lunch today.
