MLB talk 2010 ready for baseball to begin since its neckcar season. not much going on. ben sheets just signed with A's for 1 year, 8 mill. I was hoping the stros signed him. mega upside if he can stay somewhat healthy. nice fella that guy. gary matthews dumped to the mets by the angels. they really wanted this dude out to pay almost his entire salary remaining on his contract--20+ mill. but the mets needed him with beltran having surgery w/o the advice of the team.
Re: MLB talk 2010 was hoping the Sox would find a bat bigger than Beltre or Cameron. But hell, after hanging out in Safeco for a few years, Beltre will feel like he's in a little league park in Fenway. Expecting a career high in doubles from him this year (similar to Lowell's first in Boston). Love the John Lackey pick up.
Re: MLB talk 2010 sox signed beltre? hes a pretty big risk even though I sorta like him in that situation. .230 avg will suck. cameron too? whats up with re-signing pap? i thought he was on the first contract out of there.
Re: MLB talk 2010 i think the monster will help his average. not enough to brag about, but should get it up to at least .250 and he helps shore up a pretty solid defensive infield 3B = Beltre SS = Scutaro (can't belive it took this long to sign an MLB quality SS) 2b = Pedroia 1B = Youk yep. supposedly he'll play CF and move Jacony to left. not sure what that was about. kinda shocked me too. interesting that it was only a 1 year deal. don't think he'll be in Boston long term. Hope whatever the hell was wrong with him last year is better if physical. if his issue was mental, hope he doesn't snap until November or so.
Re: MLB talk 2010 I'm a little surprised by this. They're already relying on such a young staff, you wouldn't expect them to take a risk like this. You're right though, big upside. As for 'Stros news, looks like Tejada is an Oriole again. Hope they rebuilt those burned bridges. They'll have a nice lineup, but with that division you're pretty much playing for 3rd place.
Re: MLB talk 2010 hate to say it since i hate the yanks but this is the most pedestrian lineup for the sox in quite some time. nothing special here. move along now. looks like its going to be tough to catch up with the pinstripes from here out. certainly doesnt fit into their usual gameplan. looks like its 10 mill with incentives to 12 mill. sweet deal after blowing out an elbow. if it works out he will be traded to the yankees in july anyhow. yeah they have him a b-12 locker set up with his name on it already. glad the astros got rid of him but thats without seeing anything in return. they may want to try and improve their not-so-awesome roster. maybe they are depending on mike hampton's return in 2011 before doing anything drastic.
Re: MLB talk 2010 as bad as this looks, it's an improvement imo. Beltre at this point is better than Lowell I'll take Scutaro over every other shmuck the Sox have put at short since Orlando Cabrera left Pedroia and Youk and in their Primes. Martinez is a definite upgrade over Varitek. I'm much more concerned about the OF and DH I'd prefer Bay over Cameron Jacoby is in a make or break year for me Drew is gonns strain his vag again and miss 40-60 games And who the hell knows what your gonna get from Papi love the rotation though Beckett, Lackey, and Lester are a pretty solid 1-3 Jury still out on Dice-K, Wake can eat up some innings. Bucholz should have been traded, but he'll be a decent 5th starter or used in spot duty.
