A fresh, freely rotating LSU team started pounding on a worn out Troy with no real bench depth. By that point, i could call the plays.
I can't imagine he's turned a corner against a team like Troy. But, I would bet that he'll draw on the comeback in this game for the rest of his career at LSU. Ole Miss will be a challenge for the defense. Which means Lee is going to have to keep the LSU defense off the field as much as possible. Lee has a long way to go and I honestly think Shep has a shot at starting by SEC play next year if he can learn the offense fast enough.
Thank you PodKATT for giving us lost Tiger fans such as I a place to hear LSU football. Thanks to you I was able to be a part of history this evening. :LSU231:
Kudos Pod. This is the second game I was able to listen to over the internet way over here across the pond.
youre all welcome, but changes will have to be made. too many people from forums i don't know. but hey, at least you get those great late night pac-10 games. that ucla game still has 2 quarters left.
I stayed till the end; it was neat that the boo's died away when the stadium got emptied by around 60% in the third quarter, with the true die hard fans remaining who do not boo much! Coincidentally, the team started playing better and better, and mounted an amazing and "miraculous" comeback. That's the feeling I got watching the first half; I got the feeling he had a tough time getting over the fact that he gave the game away against Bama. The offense, receivers included, played flat. Seems like the rest of the offense fed off the lack of confidence. It was refreshing for the offense when JJ was put in;they seemed to perk up a bit. However, JJ obviously isn't there yet; I also noticed that he tends to tuck the ball and run. After several series with JJ, it became apparent that the team couldn't come back without the fine passing that Lee is capable of when he is on top of the game. That's why he was put back in. Also the pause in action may have helped Lee regroup better, esp. realizing the team while watching from the sidelines that they do need him. At the game because it was so cold, I spent the third quarter in the enclosed area on the club floor with my kids, and STAYED there until LSU had the go ahead or winning score, as we dared not jinx the team by going back to the seats after they started coming back with the first and second TD's:grin: Looked like this is one of them........ Miles prob knew Lee's head was really messed up after the Bama game; but maybe his continued trust helped him redeem himself. IT is amazing to me how the WHOLE team, offense and defense, started to feed off each and played better and better. I think that started when Lee started to get into rhythm and seeming regained his confidence. When Lee was put back in the third quarter, I felt that he played with NOTHING to lose at that point. EXACTLY! Hopefully he is finally learning to not force a throw or try making a play when there is nothing there. Reminds me of the maternity ward.........:hihi: You are damn right! I really feel that the team finally got over the effects of the devastating Bama loss; hope they carry the momentum from the 4th QTR of this game to the one next week. They will need it.
i was there tonight for the whole game. stadium was not even half full by the time the third quarter started, and down to about 25% when Troy moved ahead to 31. it was damn cold in there tonight. like ccgw, i spend a good bit of the third quarter on the ramps by a concession stand (their heat lamps gave off warmth) watching it on the in house tv. went back out for 4th quarter. it was definitely amazing to watch them comeback in less than 12 minutes. it was like Lee was a different person near the end. amazing game to be at. even more amazing to have stayed for the whole thing. i never leave the stadium early. in fact, i stay, no matter the score or how cold, until Tiger Band plays "Let Us Break Bread". it just completes the experience for me (and give traffic time to ease up a bit). shame on anyone who left early. and even more shame on those who boo'd a 19 year old kid. i'm ok with the student section booing him. they are of each other's ilk. but the rest of the fans should not have boo'd him. i don't know what changed in his head for him to give the performance he gave in the end, but i wish he could take that pill before every series. amazing comeback game. glad i was there.
