Just wondering what you guys think. Seeing as alot of recruits now see an opportunity to play early a plus for committing, do you think the lack of dominance this year and a group of unproven running backs that we will be relying on next year, do you see backs like Lache Seastrunk thinking more favorable towards LSU?:helmet:
Lache was already looking at LSU in very good light and with the opportunity to get early playing time. This just reinforces it IMO.
Eh, if it were an issue of talent-level for next year - maybe. But we don't currently have a lack of RB talent (not that it matters since our top 3 RBs are all graduating anyway). The OL is our issue, and I don't see how that could help recruit a RB.
Good points by both Parso and bhelm. Also, with rumblings that Ford is struggling in his freshman campaign, that ultimately should be much more of an attraction to pick LSU. There is no sure bet in the running game next season (scary thought) and Lache can easily see himself starting as a true freshman (although I would not hold my breath given Miles' track record). In this case, he may have no choice.
Thankfully as a unit the OL will be much 'older' next year. Older and stronger.. maybe they'll learn to open holes.
Im not saying we don't have talent there, just unproven, only because we have Scott and Williams ahead of everyone. I agree that the OL will be more seasoned next year also.
I think Seastrunk will definitely see a lot of playing time as a freshman if he comes here. We need him.
:geaux: Hopefully this will prove to be the case. This year we had to replace Big Herm (LG) and Helms (C). Next year we have to replace C. Black (LT) and Hitt (RG). This year the OL has had problems replacing two starters and next year we face the same issue. Sure hoping it will go a lot smoother next season. Definitely feel the OL and not the RB's are the issue on offense thus far in the season, although getting Lache would definitely be a good thing.:hihi: :LSU231:
Running out of the spread formation gives very little blocking but there is suppose to be gaps in the line to run thru because of the formation is that right? Running out of the I formation gives more blocking help for the runner but if the defense loads the box on both formations what are the options- pass & pass & pass & pass till the defense backs off isn't that right? If its so simple why isn't it working for LSU?? I'm not sure a running back is gonna want to come here if we can't run block better.. Hopefully we will get better as the season goes on but the schedule is a lot toughter now - soooooooo??? Just looking at that number of plays MS ran on us is scary... 80+.
The line Lache will be running behind will basically be the current line with more strength and experience (add in a JUCO player or two, also) Also.. you can run out of the spread just as easily as you can throw from it. Spread-option is very effective.
