The offensive gameplan going into these games are flat out horrible, the staff plays their offense WAY to conservative, i think their scared to allow the offense to make a mistke...ie turnover..... so they play this tight pound the ball and throw these safe shrt yardage routes and hope we get a lead so we can put it on our defense and special teams to win it for us. Problem is.....we are simply not good enough to just pound the ball like we did last year, blame the o-line or not, other teams are putting 8 and 9 men in the box to shutdown the run and take away the short quick pasing game. We are not adjusting to it untill we fall behing and HAVE to open it up, by spreading teams out and attaking down the field, if you notice that is the only time our offense moves the ball with some consistency! Start attcking from the begining of the game and maybe we can actually had the defense a lead!! Then I like our chances, then maybe our defense will not be on the field for 37 minutes per game!
We threw the first series of the game with success, then got away with it. I suppose because of the lousy field position, but then we didn't execute when we had opportunities. We might as well open it up and quit playing so tight. All that we have to lose are more games. And with the offense we've fielded the past three games, that is going to happen.
3 and out is not a turnover......go and look up the definition of turnover! punting on fourth down is a change of possesion...not a turnover.
You're reading from the rule book. I don't care what the book says. When your offense runs three plays and then gives the other team the ball, that's as good as a turnover. You said it very well in your original post. Les Miles is so afraid of a turnover (rule book definition), that he's turning the ball over(my definition) every three plays by repeatedly running into a stacked defense. I can visualize you with rule book in hand saying "no, it says right here..."
Regardless the ball is being "turned over" to the other teams offense to damn often. Whether it be intercepted, fumbled, on downs, or 3 and outs. Period.
