I am in agreement with about 95% of this. I would never say no improvement, but Jefferson lacks the football smarts to be big time. At the end of his sophomore year, I would certainly not classify him as bad, but he is not getting it done, and I don't think he has to tools (all the tools) to get it done. "It" being win consistently in the SEC and overcome the teams we have to beat to be champions. Unfortunately, we need him to WIN games, not just, "not lose" them.

Maybe magic will happen. I hope so. I hope new leadership, whatever the form, will play to his strengths.

Sometimes the right QB coach can make a world of difference and I'm hoping this will be the case.

His comp % is around 62%. That'd be at or near the top in just about any conference.
You said that he was inaccurate. It's not cherry-picking statistics when this one directly refutes your claim.
You can pick and choose stats to spin just about anything. Sound familiar? Besides, all of these statistics indicate that he has been average in the conference, which really ain't bad considering he's 19 years old and playing for an OC who has officially lost his mind.
Well, I'm not claiming that the guy is lighting the world on fire. But frankly, I think the bulk of the blame lies with the coaches. He's shown flashes of being very good at times, which indicates to me that he's not being utilized properly. He's continually being put in needlessly difficult situations. This scenario has been far too common this season: run for zero on first, option for a loss on second, then it's third and forever. It seems like he's not been allowed to ever get into a rhythm.

Also, he hasn't shown improvement in some very glaring areas, which tells me that they're not working on those things. However, certain habits are very hard to break during the season. You only have enough time during the week to game plan, not work on basics. If they can get a coach in there who can reach him and make him learn not to be so timid, the guy could be very good.

Twisted Tiger is also completely ignoring the fact that JJ is playing behind the worst oline in the SEC.

Never ignored that, you obviously haven't been reading my posts this season. However JJ's problems are much deeper than just a bad O line.

Here is some more stats for you twisted tiger

    2003 14 games
    Mauck(Senior) 64% 2825 YDS. 28TD's 148.24%efficiency
    TEAM Rushing 2600 yds.

    2007 14 games
    Flynn(Senior) 56% 2407 YDS. 21TD's 125.7% efficiency
    TEAM Rushing 2998 yds.

    2009 12 games
    Jefferson (Sophmore) 62% 1964 YDS. 16TD's 137% efficiency
    TEAM Rushing 1515 yds.

Jefferson is on pace to eclipse Flynn's numbers with half the rushing output of the 2007 team. We are a good O-Line and healthy running backs away from being a title team. You don't need Dan Marino numbers to win national titles, just a balanced attack.

I've said from the beginning we have position coach problems and play calling problems. The whole offensive staff and maybe Brick Haley needs to go. Our players have not improved from week 1. They are still making the same mistakes. I don't blame the players I blame the teachers. It did seem to me however last night that I saw more coaching on the sidelines than usual. The position coaches seemed to be keeping the kids heads in the game and we should see that every week. You should improve every week and we have not. If we do not get some coaching up from the position level we will have the same problems next year.:cuss:

The only coach that I would say has to go without a doubt is Strud.

If the oline was not so bad, the rest of em would look a lot better. It all starts there and we are the worst in the league at it.

You're right, but you do need a clue and right now JJ doesn't have one. To compare him to Flynn as a starter and say they are comparable is insane. Flynn actually knew what he was doing.

How can someone not have a clue, go 17 for 25, scramble for at least 2 key first downs, and lead his team to a game tying field goal with little time on the clock. Plus, do all this with his fourth string running back and the most predictable play calling in the history of football. What the hell were you doing at 19 years old. I could barely pay my electric bill on time.
