They played almost flawlessly against Florida. One penalty. One sack allowed. Picked up blitzes beautifully. Created some running lanes for our running backs. Gave a definite RHYTHM to this offense for the first time all season. And all this in front of an overly raucous crowd at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Rhythm. It's all about the rhythm. Here's to hoping we do the mambo all the way to Glendale.
They were definitely the unsung heroes of that game. This is going to be a VERY interesting back end of the season.
Actually scoring more points than the other team helps, too. Thank you Capt. Obvious. (j/j, btw, don't get mad)
Yes, there has been a distinct improvement in the OL play from last season. It has taken time to develope but it is coming along.
I was wondering if they would get exposed against Florida, but they surprised me. They really have come on strong, and I was wrong about them.
You could argue before the Florida game that the O-line was not faring much better than last season. It was a distinct improvement from the first 5 games of this season, actually. The drive at the end of the Tennessee game was the first drive over 60 yards in length that we scored a TD on in which it was over 5 plays in length. That's crazy. I would bet before Florida that we were probably pretty close to leading the nation in offensive line penalties and negative plays from the line of scrimmage. We had almost none of that in the Florida game. It was almost a night and day difference.
Not sure that would be a good argument. Here are some stats from the 1st 3 games this year compared to last year. Revamped LSU offensive line steps it up | shreveporttimes.com | Shreveport Times
Thanks for that info Bhelm. This was the first clean game we played as an offensive line though. Obviously it goes hand in hand with the QB execution. But to constantly have 2nd and 12s and 3rd and 15s like we did in the first 5 games gives your QB much less chance to succeed.
