excuse me stupid tree, guess losing to ole miss with third string players is acceptable, and i know about fournet my wife is from new orleans and besides who called fournette scared and he goes to st. aug.
You totally lost me on that one lol. I was trying to point out that LSU's scheme and strategy is outdated and not particularly effective at times. I am guessing you are either very old or have a lot of time to look up statistics from 1975 Bo was a great coach in 1975. No argument on that point. The point is that football has evolved since 1975, and our strategy needs to evolve also.
My point too don't go away from a productive offense to just running the ball up the middle, and don't be so predictable miles got scared with the three interceptions and got away from his gameplan.
Since this thread is still alive, let me pose this question... When you are in the middle of the field (between the 20s) and it is a neutral time down & distance (1st & 10, 2nd & 7, 3rd & 3, etc)... , does it make more sense to bring in 2 or 3 tight ends to attempt a running play or does it make more sense to run the ball out of a more "neutral" formation?
I think it makes more sense to be un predictable bringing in a heavy package sends red flags, everyone knows it's a running play, earlier in the year lsu was running out of passing formations but now it's come to be a predictable offense so answer this why does miles keep changing the offense to a more standard run offense.
Totally agree. The "heavy" package tells everyone in the stadium what the play is before you run it. Plus it guarantees that you are running against a short yardage type defense. No wonder we get stuffed at the line of scrimmage. As you pointed out, earlier in the season, we weren't so predictable. I wish I had a good answer as to why we keep reverting to the old school offense. The common denominator appears to be Les Miles. As much as I like Les Miles, I really wish he would evolve with the times.
I get what you're saying. I'm saying you are waaaaay over analyzing what's going on. If the offense is productive, they can line up in the wishbone for all I care. Look at the second half of that game. Mett hit receiver after receiver for 15 yards and up for 30 minutes, while the running game gashed Ole Miss consistently for 6, 7 yards a pop. Had Mett shown the same accuracy and Cam not been so eager to throw the ball in the first half, we beat OM by 20, and we're not even having this conversation.
3 plays 11 yds. That's what I want. Move the chains on every 3rd minimum. I'd really love to see them moved in every 1st but I'll settle for 3rd. Just win and become unpredictable.
It tells them that there is likely a run coming, but it doesn't tell them where. The "heavy" package works with a power running game by creating double-team blocks at the point of attack, but the defense never knows which gap is being targeted. And when you run a play-action out of it, your receivers are in man coverage.
