If a team has to put up a ton of yards on offense, it's typically because the opponent is, too, and you have to outscore them.

I'd expect to see an inverse correlation between offensive and defensive rankings.

Wow, what a thread. This offense might go down as one of the highest scoring Lsu offenses ever. We play fabulous real cornell and we are doing it with 2 qb's many fans wished weren't going to be here this year.

We played one of the best defenses I've ever seen and people are all of a sudden questioning our Oc. And basing replacing him on the premise that the QB coach might leave.

This boggles the mind. And too hear this while we are on our way to a possible national championship disturbed me. This probably the most consistently good offense at LSU I've seen maybe forever. And we play real football!

Next year with Metz in the driver's seat, the pass option will definitely be on the play calling menu more. Let's face it, we have 2 current quarterbacks, both of whom are capable of passing the ball, but not consistent in their ability, to pick out and pass to receivers and get it there most of the time.

Lee made poor, hurried throws, and we were lucky nothing really came of either int. He looked tentative, and shakey. There's not much Stud can do about that. Krags works with these guys, and only game experience can assure them. However this is the 4th year for both, and they should be used to the pressure.

When Jefferson came in, he did add something to the game. Lee may pass, but Jefferson helped us survive Alabama.

It was more jj's composure and leadership than anything that helped us survive bama. He did save some plays and found shep on a long pass. I understand that he did put up some yards but it was his leadership in not allowing our team to feel disheartened that was his greatest contribution. He took this game as a redemption of himself, and to his credit, did lsu and himself proud.

I do not expect to see an inverse correlation between offense and defense. Just because you have a great defense does not mean you cannot have a top-rated offense as well.

The point is you have to tread carefully with stats. Boise puts up insane offensive numbers, but what kind of defenses are they seeing every week? When you play field position football like Les does, with a top defense, you're going to get short fields.

Could we have better QB play? Sure. But compared to the shape Crowton had these guys in last year, the improvement in decision-making and execution is huge, especially in the red zone. Barring something alarming like <200 yards offense against WKU, I don't see anything to worry about at the moment.

This thread amazes me. I know over the last two years Ive been pretty critical of the Miles and the staff. However, I just dont get it at all this year. Coach Stud has done more than enough to earn the OC. The O isnt pedestrian like its been in the last few years. We are actually going down the field just enough to cause the D to lessen up on the run. Its not like the prevoius 2-3 seasons where we are barely beating teams we should be blowing off the field. Outside of Bama, LSU has blown everyone off the field.

I wasnt at all sold on Coach Stud coming into the season. In large part because I didnt think he deserved to be OL coach but he has certainly proved himself.

Sure ... our QBs aren't the best in the world, but at the same time, I think we're holding them to an unreasonable standard.

Andrew Luck .. the Heisman favorite, has thrown 5 ints in 272 attempts. Lee has thrown 3 ints in 162 attempts Ya do the math, Lee's int rate is identical to Lucks. 5 ints per 272 attempts.

Luck even threw a pick 6 against USC. YET .. Luck will be starting the rest of the year. There is no question about that. He can mess up, he can have a less than stellar game .. but he is assurred that he will return to redeem himself the next week.

IMO, this is where the 2 QB system breaks us down. Our QBs both want to start. Lee is probably thinking that since he threw 2 ints in the last game, he's probably back to the backup, thus destroying his dream of starting in the NCG .. and if history is any measure, he won't play much in the NC game either. And if he gets out their, and our coaches don't call some high percentage passes to get his confidence up, then graduate back to the more risky passes, he'll probably stay down.

Everyone is saying Lee can't handle the pressure. I disagree. I don't think the coaches called good plays IMO, especailly the last interception setting up Bama's last FG, on Lee's first play back out after throwing an interception.

I just hope Izzy is right .... that CLM will use the W. Kentucky Game to get JLee back on his feet and throwing the ball again.

    +1

He may need to ease up on the firewater for gametime. This offense is much better than what Crapton ran with the meerkat offense.(I don't even want to speak his name anymore).

What you do not seem to realize....as most people NEVER seem to take this into concideration.......#1 our offenese before the bama game was averaging 38points per game...so obviously they are score on most of their drives......

The reason the numbers are not gaudy like you would like to see is that with such a great defense like lsu has....we tend to have short fields to drive......go back and look at lsu's scoring drives this year.....alot of them were on short field....because thats what our defense gives us!! Great defense and great special teams = short fields to drive for score!! That's lsu's season wrapped up in a nutshell!!!
