Offense is easy, pretty much a no brainer it's Hester. Defense is a little more difficult, especially with the slide in performance at the end of the season. I think it could go to Dorsey, Highsmith, Beckwith, Steltz, or Chevis. Dorsey just for being who he is, but he got hurt and it affected his play. Highsmith for playing all out all the time. Made some key plays down the stretch, and proved he is the only guy that can tackle McFadden 1 on 1. Beckwith didn't get a lot of pub, but we severely suffered when he wasn't on the field. Steltz would get it if you just look at the stats and big plays. But he got burnt a lot this year. Several of the big plays blamed on McCray were actually Steltz' fault. But he always seemed to make up for it. Big hits that stopped drives, interceptions, and pretty good run support. Had a great one year tryout for the NFL. Chevis just did his thing. One of the best cover corners in CFB, bats down balls, intercepts, and most impressive of all is one of the best tacklers on the team. I think in the end Dorsey should be the one because of what he gave up to be here. Great leader, and hell of a football player.
Dorsey has to be the MVP...You saw hoe the defense struggled after he got hurt. Craig Steltz has to be the most outstanding defensive player.
Dorsey is the leader of this D and he is our MVP hands down. Steltz had a great start to the season but seemed to be very vulnerable in pass coverage in the latter half of the year. He made more than his share of big hits however. He had a tremendous year. So much so that now he is being talked about playing on Sundays (I am not convinced of that however, his lack of speed is a bit too much to overcome). Highsmith's performance against Arkansas was something to behold (one of the best linebacker performances in LSU history). Hester is the offensive MVP. We had several different offensive MVPs from game to game, but the one constant was Hester. What a gamer. HE WILL PLAY ON SUNDAYS. BET THAT. I think we will see Dickson on Sundays too.
offensive MVP: Hester no doubt Defensive MVP: Dorsey. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't been watching the same 13 games I have. He was named defensive MVP of the country, so that pretty much sums it all up.
:thumb: Dorsey is obvious. Hester - not only has he been clutch, he's inspired his own team. Gotta say, though - Byrd is a compelling case for honorable mention, particularly in the last few games.
Offense: Hester Defense: Cant name one guy as all guys had their moments. Dorsey really only played half a season so I will give it to Highsmith. Though Ill nominate my underrated hometown boy C. Jackson.
offensive mvp: ciron black-absolutely dominated many games freeing hester. defensive mvp: craig steltz--played hurt seemingly half of the season yet made many game saving tackles and never missed a game. played his ass off every snap. probably close to leading the team in tackles.
an unsung hero (Tirk's answer reminded me of this), #45 Quinn Johnson is a beast at FB. If anyone has the games Tivo'ed or on DVD, just watch the plays that he is in. He has at least 25 pancakes this year, I'd say.
Not probably. Definitely. 97 total, 66 solo. Highsmith is next with 93 and 58. As an aside, Tirk. Thanks to you, I have this urge to be Santa Claus. It just. won't. go. a. way.
