Aren't you the one that had the meltdown saying you wouldn't watch the NC game because of how pathetic our offense looked against Georgia?
This is true, remember football takes a team effort. Those 30 take-aways have resulted in points. Krags and Stud have meshed very well this year. This staff is one of the better in the nation. On both sides of the ball along with Special Teams this staff has done well. After the announcement of Krags, Les let him make the call of how he wanted to handle coaching (What and when he could do things). The others on the staff looked at how this was handled. You look at coaches getting fired, right now at LSU, they have one of the more stable programs in the nation. Stability in coaching right now is big, I know cause I talk with coaches all the time. Remember Brick and McGaughey came from the Pro's, ask Mc how many times hes moved. I have a college coaching friend that has moved around a dozen times, thats the life they have everyday. Many times with coaches, its not about the money. Sometimes people don't understand this, but its true. Stability is what most are looking for. Family neededs also come into play. :tigereye:
And let's give credit to the LSU offense for converting turnovers into touchdowns instead of FGs, way more often than not. Again, team effort, as has been stated.
That's exactly why my dad stayed in high school coaching, instead of ever making the jump to college. He had offers with McClendon and Stovall @ LSU, for instance, but didn't want to lose his job, and jeopardize his family's stability, when they lost theirs.
Sounds like a smart family man. There are many in this profession, not all, but many. So many times someone will interview for a job, only to be turned down by the college. Many times, the coach is not looking to move, remember, he has to hire a staff. Assts. have to want to go to a school. Interviewing for a job, doesn't mean they want it at times.
I don't know if I wrote that or not, I did say in the context of that thread that "a part of me" didn't care whether we won or lost. But I'm not going to go there. .. it's on another thread. OTOH .. yeah .. I probably did say that our offense was pathetic in the SECCG. More specifically, QB play was pathetic, [and it was], as the RB core did one bang up job in the second half. Flame on dude .. I'm tough!! I call it as I see it. QB play sucked. And I won't pull a Fishhead and comment in rep points, calling you a p**sy for disagreeing with me, or telling you to root for Tulane.
I can't believe nobody has mentioned running back depth. LSU has a deep stable of running backs that they can employ situationally as needed, and they are just steamrolling teams late in games, b/c all our guys are still fresh. Very very few teams can stand up to these guys for four quarters. 4 RBs, this year, have more carries and yards than last year's #2. LSU has scored 21 more points in first halves this year, and 88 more in second halves. That second number would be substantially higher if they weren't regularly taking their foot off the gas early.
Not flaming you for your opinion, even though I thought you were way off base. But at this point you certainly can't come back and say "That's just the way people are", regarding people questioning our offense as being anemic all of a sudden. I'm still completely stunned you made that statement in the other thread. Just seemed like someone hacked your account or a cousin got hold of your computer and posted for you. It came out of nowhere.
Chauk it up to me being a tad pissed about the situation. Still am. Why can't I say that?? Seems to me those are two separate issues.
You can be upset about the QB performance, I certainly was as well. During the game. But once I had a chance to think about it, and watching us pound GA for 229 yards of offense in the 2nd half (that averages out to 458 yards for an entire game, btw), I was over it and I feel in my heart of hearts that Jefferson is going to be the Bowl game Jefferson we have come to know. It's not going to be easy for our offense on January 9th. But it won't be for Alabama, either. Hang in there, Jefferson will make you proud.
