Week to week I've asked myself what is different about this seasons offense over last season.
    • We're averaging 8.8 more points per game
    • We've made 36 more 1st downs than last season
    • Almost 400 more rushing yards for the season
    • We've had 11 more passing TD's than last season (10 in 2010, 21 in 2011)
    • Averaging about 35 more yards per game
    • Increased 3rd down conversions 9%
    • Scored 22 more TD's than last season
But what has really made the difference this season is red zone scoring, 86% in 2010, 93% in 2011. That's HUGE.....When you look at all the offensive statistics, this team improved in every catagory over last season.

Anyone have any other thoughts? I know some are down on QB play, but I've felt a whole lot better this season. I'm starting to believe what many of you stated last year....Crowton was the problem.

    #1 Simplified game plan (Studwara)

Be great at what we're trying to do in a reduced offense (2011) vs being average at doing a lot of different things (2010).

    #2 Steve Kragthorpe

Getting the most out of Lee and Jefferson.

Some of the improved offense was due to JL in the 8 games he started. JJ has come back and played well at times but I am a little concerned after the first half of the Arkansas and Georgia games. I probably should go back and rewatch the Arkansas game. I am happy we are having so much success running the ball and winning with one dimensional offense. How good is this team to be able to do that? At the same time it does concern me looking ahead to the next game. Btw, I think you can probably write off the first half against Georgia because the offense was definitely looking ahead! Just concerned this may turn into a pattern.

Last year you were plus 8 in turnover margin (32-24)... this year you're plus 22 (30-8)... and lead the nation.

Don't turn the ball over... get 30 take aways and only give up 8... giving you numerous starts in good field position... then have a punter who can make the opposing team always start 70 yards away or worse...

That would make for a pretty good team.

My thoughts exactly. Our offense itself isn't explosive but we have a lot of opportunities and can run the ball when it matters. Any fan of football can appreciate how well this Tiger team plays in every aspect of the game.

But our QB play was really bad last year. QB rating about 35 points lower and yards per attempt was embarrassing. We have performed really well across the board throwing the ball this year (completion %, TD %, Int %, yards per attempt).

The final game of the season will be decided by QB play, IMHO.

    Winner!

I have said several times that turnovers are the key. Miles knows this, and he hates them.

Not sure how our field position compares to last years, but it has to be better due to turnovers.

I bet that if we looked at points off turnovers, defensive scores, and special team scores vs what our opponents scored, we win all but one game. I wonder how many games we win with no offensive points.

Another thought, last year's team was predictable. Maybe we run various plays out of the same formation now. Any thoughts?

The run game, and offensive line in general, has taken a lot of pressure off our QBs. Running JJ more vs. forcing him to pass has helped too.
