A thread to post anything Saints during the offseason (hence the name). I'll start with this...found on Youtube last night, Saints vs Falcons from 1983. Saints won it 27-10 in what was Bum Phillips best Saints team. Was cool to watch Hokie...he had 2 TDs in the game, and was a very quick fullback before putting on some muscle later in his career. George Rogers had a fantastic 65-yard run but otherwise a quiet game. My two big takeaways from that game....Rogers, Deuce, Dalton, Reuben and Muncie are generally considered the Saints' best all-time backs, but Wayne Wilson was very underrated. Very quick, finished his runs hard and was a good receiver. And....QB Dave Wilson was such a disappointment. This was before he developed chronic shoulder problems. The guy could really sling the ball around before that happened. He really could have been special had he stayed healthy.

Saints are in worse and opposite shape than LSU. The Saints have little to no talent, but a great QB and coach. LSU has LOADS of talent, but no QB and coach. Both will finish with about 8 wins. Just imagine Payton running LSU's offense, Saban would shit his pants!

Report: Saints discussed trading for No. 1 pick to draft QB
    Dan Wilkins Apr 26, 2016 09:41
The New Orleans Saints may be looking to address the future of the quarterback position as Drew Brees closes in on the end of his Hall of Fame career.

Prior to the recent blockbuster deal between the Los Angeles Rams andTennessee Titans, the Saints had talks about moving up to the No. 1 overall spot in this week's draft, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Brees said on "The Rich Eisen Show" that he hadn't heard anything about the Saints trading up and doubts "that was probably the case or a consideration," quotes ESPN.He added that either outcome wouldn't affect his offseason preparation or any part of his game.

Doing so would have given the club its choice between consensus top quarterbacks Jared Goff and Carson Wentz. The price, however, reportedly became too expensive.

With the Philadelphia Eagles having traded into the No. 2 spot behind Los Angeles, Goff and Wentz are expected to come off the board in consecutive picks atop the opening round.

Should the Saints feel strongly enough about Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch, Rapoport adds that they're a team to watch for a potential trade up into the latter portion of the top 10.

Brees continued to play at a high level last year, and he undoubtedly remains the starter heading into 2016. Given his age and impending free-agent status, though, it remains unclear whether he's expected to return thereafter.

Regardless of whether the 37-year-old returns for the 2017 season, adding Lynch would give the Saints a high-potential player to groom as an eventual starter under center.

Two QB's that would be second round picks in any other year. Sounds like Payton and Loomis in recent drafts. I predict they trade their next 3 first round picks plus this years second rounder to move up 2 spots and select Derrick Henry.

Such a hard-headed front office. How many times will these guys throw snake eyes before they realize that their best draft successes come when they don't roll the dice? And when will they wake up to the fact that the one time we won a Super Bowl was the one year they assembled a defense good enough to stop our own offense?

Ever since they drafted Colston in the 7th round they've been patting themselves on the back and calling each other genius. Ever since then, their drafts and free agent signings have sucked sweaty balls!

Sheldon Rankins....I would say a good pick, but we could have done better. I'd have taken Lawson and gotten a tackle in the second round.
