Wow, Saints signed Watson for only 3.15 million over 3 year period. Loomis has struck yet again. Saints still have 4.7 million under the cap.
from his article that elaborates on what Payton said about LT: "Who's going to be our left tackle? " Payton asked. "If you ask me what keeps me up at night, there would be two areas: how are we going to improve our pass rush and who are we going to be at left tackle?" "I look at that spot (LT) like there's a magnet with no name on it," Payton said. "Gray, it's just gray." On Charles Brown: "I brought up the term available, though," Payton said. "And so that's the one thing he's going to have to (be). He has to be available. Year after year if you're unable to (stay on the field), then it becomes as a coach do we have him, do we not have him. Oh, we do have him, but oh he's out and we don't have him. It's hard to game plan then." Tackle Marcel Jones may also receive an opportunity to compete for the starting left tackle job this offseason. But the 2012 seventh-round pick also wasn't available at all last season landing on injured reserve during training camp. http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2013/03/new_orleans_saints_left_tackle_10.html
nola.com story says Saints worked out former Tulane QB Ryan Griffin today. What I'd like to know is, who is the Boston College receiver he worked out with....the one who ran a 4.38 40? http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ss..._quarterback_ryan_2.html#incart_river_default
Chiefs are looking to move LT Branden Albert, but they want a 2nd round pick in this year's draft and next. Since we don't have a 2nd round pick, we'd probably have to give up our first round pick this year to get him, as I doubt the Chiefs would take anything less. If we can get him for our 1st round pick and that's it, it MAY be worth it to protect Drew's blindside. I have no idea what he makes or how it would impact our salary cap, so if he makes too much, it's obviously not a feasible trade.
Junior Gallette tweeted that Tracy Porter was at the Saints facility today NuLa C.E.O. @JuniorG93 6hOh I Definitely Saw A CornerBack who was pretty crucial 4 Da Saints in '09 @ The Facility Today #SignMan I Need YOU BRO!
That's a great sign. I wrote back in post #66 that I hoped we would get him again, but didn't think we could afford him. Maybe he made his FA money and is ready to come 'home'. Can't wait to hear that it's official.
I wish we'd hurry up and make some more moves. I know that Lewis and Watson signings are huge, but I'd like to see us do more. I realize that A) we're limited in what we can do because of the cap and B) Loomis and Payton are probably just doing their due diligence, but we have so many needs to fill on defense and there's tons of defensive FAs out there. ATL just signed Umenyoria today and Stephen Jackson earlier in the month, so it's tough seeing your rival get stronger while we're sitting on our hands. The New Orleans Saints are on the clock....
Saints just signed former Cowboy LB Victor Butler. No clue who he is, but Rob Ryan does (he used to coach him) and signed him so I trust that.
Same here. We need help at LB, so this is a good start. Hopefully, we can get a deal done with Tracey Porter then go after an LT and some D-line help.
Mostly a reserve for the Cowboys, but he's put up good numbers in the last 2 years subbing when Ware or Spencer got hurt. Good pickup.
