Especially when you have a salary like Brees' to deal with.

Exactly. The real trick will be next year, when Graham is a FA and will have teams throwing obscene amounts of money at him.

He may have had some inside info from the new DC, don't you think?

Sure he did, but I'm not basing what I said on him signing one player.

Well, Saints just signed DE Kenyon Coleman (Cowboys).

Does this affect the possibility of Mingo being drafted by Saints? I know that they will list him as an OLB if they draft him, but it's part of the hybrid position that comes with Rob Ryan's 3-4 defense.

I hope they still take Mingo as opposed to a LT. I think that they can get a LT in FA, via trade, or just groom up one of the guys on the roster like they usually do.

Coleman turns 34 in 9 days, so he's not going to affect anything we do in the Draft.

As for guys we would be looking to draft as 3-4 DEs (Coleman's position), the guys we'd hope fall to us at 15 would be guys like Star Lotulelei, Sharrif Floyd, Sheldon Richardson, etc

As for 3-4 OLBs, now that we signed Victor Butler, that makes it much less likely that we take a 3-4 OLB prospect at 15, but we could still do so if its BPA (which it could be if one of the handful of top-flight 3-4 OLB prospects like Mingo are still available at 15)

    Cowboys head coach on Coleman:

    “That's a loss because he's been such a
good player for us,” Cowboys coach Jason
Garrett said last November when Coleman
was placed on IR . “He is a very, very good
run defender and has shown that he can
push the pocket and pressure the
    quarterback a little bit, too.”

    Saints sign Luke McCown?

    Really?

Is that the best they could do?

We signed him at about this time last year, too

On June 7, 2012, Luke McCown signed with the New Orleans Saints. The New Orleans Saints released him on August 28, 2012
