Drew Brees rated #6 all time greatest quarterback. https://saintswire.usatoday.com/2019/07/03/saints-drew-brees-best-nfl-quarterbacks-all-time/
Whoa Nellie. Not so fast my friend. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a Saints writer ranking him #6?
No. A writer for NFL.com. Otto Graham is 4 and Johnny Unitas 5. Hard to say how they compare to more modern day QB's.
I can't argue against Brady and Montana. 9 Superbowl rings between them. Peyton Manning put up some amazing stats but Brees exceeded them and beat Manning head to head in the Superbowl. Brees is #1 by a big margin in passing yardage and completion percentage. Not discounting Graham and Unitas but I would put Brees at #3. Maybe they should have had a special category for old timers. I would put Dan Marino at #4 and Brett Favre at #5.
To be fair Brees played with less than great surrounding talent for many of his seasons. How many rings would Archie Manning have if he had played for the Steelers of the same era as his playing career.
Michael Thomas is officially a holdout. Did not report for training camp today, as he is seeking to become the highest paid WR in NFL history, according to nola.com. Saints reportedly are offering something in the $18-19 millon range; OBJ is the current highest paid at 18, but Thomas reportedly wants 20.
nola.com also says Saints have signed journeyman linebacker Josh Martin to "bolster the pass rush." In his 6 year career, Martin has recorded a grand total of 2.5 sacks. Okaaaaaaayyyyyyy
He's a great receiver but wants to be the highest paid one. Probably an ego thing. Now, is he truly one of the best recievers in the NFL today or is it because he has Brees as a QB that can lay it in there for him?
