If we do, he's on the roster already, unless they resign Dez Bryant. I don't think we'll make any other move on a WR. Going into last year, I really thought we potentially had a better WR corps than the group of the Super Bowl year. Then Meredith proved to not be healthy yet, Ginn spent most of the year hurt and Smith regressed after a mid-season injury. So....will a presumably now-healthy Meredith bounce back? Will Smith live up to his potential? Will a year-older Ginn still have a dominant 4th gear? Is Kirkwood for real?
About to sign return specialist Marcus Sherels away from the Vikings. He's currently 2nd to Darren Sproles among active players with 5 punt returns for TDs in his career.
True, but it usually takes a year or 2 for them to be a solid contributor. With Drew's windows nearly shut, there's not much time for development. Hopefully Murray can produce similar numbers as Ingram but as has already been mentioned, Mark was a great locker room guy loved by his teammates. That chemistry is probably where he'll be missed most. You think? Depth was really thin there last year. I was wondering if Jordy Nelson had anything left in the tank. I know the Chiefs and Seahawks were both interested, but I don't think he's signed anywhere yet.
They went into the season with Thomas, Ginn, Meredith, Smith and Carr as the 5, with Lewis mostly a special teamer..... First Ginn got hurt, so they increased Lewis' snaps. Meredith got hurt, so they signed Bryant and started targeting Carr more. Bryant got hurt, so they activated Kirkwood and signed Marshall Marshall didn't pan out, and at about the same time, Smith got hurt. That was the critical point, because he had been developing into a legit 2nd threat behind Thomas. Kirkwood wasn't ready for that level, and Carr will never be there. Point being, they didn't go into the season thin, it was a developing problem throughout the year. If they bring back Bryant - and the way the team reacted to his loss would suggest he would be welcome back - I think its a potentially strong group.
Yep, I get it, but Lewis is gone, Carr should be cut, and I wouldn't count on Bryant or Meredith staying healthy the entire year. Kirkwood came on late, so maybe he'll have a break out year, but it wouldn't hurt to at least consider Nelson if the money is right.
Well, they'll always bring people in at every position. But there's not going to be a major investment at WR, unless its Bryant. For now, they are settled on Thomas, Ginn and Smith as the top 3, and I know they're pretty high on Kirkwood too. Anyone they bring in is going to be considered the 4th guy, at best. No free agency splash there.
