This is all great stuff, but you guys need to let him actually do it (earn it on the field) rather than constantly pointing out his failures 10+ years ago, and hashing out what a poor decision Alleva made over and over. I wanted a top name coach, too, but dammit he's our coach for now, like it or not, and I support the team. When a thread is created ("Might be worth a listen") trying to poison the waters and create divide, and it gets 150+ responses, many of which are continued diatribes about how much O and Alleva suck, it doesn't help the fan base, team, recruiting, any of it. All it does is create negative energy. I, for one, am grateful the team overcame all of this adversity and gutted out that win that very few expected. Proud of the players AND coaches, including Oeaux.
I'll go ahead and feast on crow. Coach O really had the team prepped for some fierce play today. This team's resilience is phenomenal. Today has made me really hopeful for the future of LSU football.
Are some of you people blind? We beat a top 10 team with 3 freshman OLs, a banged up DL, basically played Guice the whole game because Williams was injured more than we thought and shut Aub out in the 2nd half for a comeback win. We are still thin, injured and young yet have 2 great wins back to back. We found out Friday night Syracuse is much better than people thought, we beat them # 2 Clemson didn't. Troy has always played us tough and appears better than we thought. Leave O alone let him do his job. He's our coach for this year and next year whether you like it or not. We need big time recruits to get back to where we should be and we won't get them with talk of running O off. To get these 2 wins our team needed to play inspired and motivated football and that comes from the head coach. After the Troy loss I was down on O and if the team didnt play more inspired and with more fight against Fla and Aub I would jumped off the wagon. We not only played more inspied but smarter and won both thought we would lose both. I am all in for this year and all of next year. Want to see what this young, thin injured team can do healthy, deeper and with more experience. It will take a complete colapse for me to worry about coaching till then.
If you were hunky dory after MooU, then Troy, then even FU, I’d think there is something wrong with you as a fan. After MooU I was very concerned, after Troy I was ready to fire everyone, after FU I was tempering my expectations, after AU I have some renewed hope.
Ultimate blame/credit goes to Eaux. If the coordinators succeed, Eaux succeeds. I’ve seen flashes of quality in some categories that we rarely, if ever, saw from Miles. Or did you give Miles no credit (he certainly wasn’t an offensive or defensive guru - hell OL and TE were often inconsistent under him and were two categories where he had the most specialized experience). As far as Alleva, if O works out I’m going to be very impressed. If Wade works out, doubly. In the face of unprecedented vitriol he’d have kicked everyone in the nuts. Baseball coach is pretty decent too.
It was a total team effort. At the end of the day the best coaches leave it to their assistants, but make the big game time decisions. So O did an excellent job there. His time management was great at the end of the game. Canada was amazing, considering where our offense is currently, to be able to make just enough plays to win this game! I don't know if it was Aranda, O, or position coaches, but someone lit a fire under this undermanned D's ass after the first quarter. Aranda called a great game, neutralizing Auburn. I do think Auburn helped with some bad play calling at times, but that's every game where things like that have to happen in close ones.
Understood, but that point has been made over and over. We all get it , and most agree. Time to move on is the point others are making.
