It sure looked like there should have been a flag on that. I watched the ESPN recording when I got back from the game, and you can't tell whether he gave the signal on TV. It looked to me like he did from the student section, but not 100% sure. Did anybody get a good look at this?
It was close. Everyone in my section groaned when he looked like he was going to take off. One more step and a flag for sure.
I didn't see but I'll tell you one thing, he has some sure hands when fielding punts. Like the one he picked up on the run when he took off down the sidelines. He makes me strain sometimes, the traffic he catches them in. If he can develop the same consistency (and I believe he will) with catching passes, lawd!
Dude really needs to learn when to take fair catches and when to let the punt go. He tries to return EVERYTHING and that will cost us dearly one day if he fumbles it (see also: UW opening kick). It's surprising to me that he has such confidence in his kick-catching ability when he has trouble with so may passes.
I thought he was trying to channel the Honey Badger the other night with the way he was fielding punts. Made me nervous.
This year, a lot of things are making me nervous watching LSU games, but once an LSU fan, always an LSU fan and with so many young players this year, I'm prepared for a lot more nail biting to come. It sure must be a lot easier being an Alabama fan this year, so far. Personally, I'd like to see nothing better than to have Tusk Times and company start sweating in two weeks with Mississippi State, culminating in profuse tears the night of November 3 after a complete beat down by our Tigers.
Bama's also had the benefit of very favorable schedules for going on two years now. That's not going to last forever.
