Are they gonna just play 5 games in a row? Or will they push the start of the Cardinals home games back a day as well?
Looking at the matchups, the Mets are going to be hard pressed to win the first 2 games of this series: Game 3: Carpenter vs. Trachsel Game 4: Reyes vs. Perez Unless Carpenter and Reyes just fall apart, then those potentially could be easy wins for the Cardinals. So the rainout is big, it prevents the Mets from using Glavine 3 times in the series. And it may even force both teams to go with 5 pitchers....I know Marquis ain't worth crap, but I have no idea who the Mets would even counter with. Suddenly, this is very problematic for the Metropolitans. We may have to see Darren Oliver or Dave Williams (more likely) take a start. Lots of 9-8 games. Fun, fun.
Verlander is sweet to watch. Tigers are my new adopted team to hopefully win it all. That damn Leyland....he even had me fooled....he throws the last 3 games at home vs the Royals only to get his team pumped up against the mighty and heavily favored Yankees....sheer genius!
LaRussa moving Carpenter up for game 2 due to the rainout. I'm not sold on that move. I like him at home and in a potential game 7, not 2 road games.
I was just getting ready to post "what a great game so far by Weaver..." I guess I should have put a bit more emphasis on "so far"... one bad pitch in an otherwise outstanding outing and he's down 2-0
Interesting to see Gear-mo Mota climb up the ladder so quickly in the bullpen pecking order for Willy. What happened with Heilman?
Mets couldn't have scripted it any better Glavine only throws 89 pitches...should be good to go on 3 days rest
