If what you're hearing is true it would confirm what I was told and have been saying for some time. That Miles had pretty much made up his mind on Gonzales and/or Kragthorpe, and that the interviews were just a formality. But that if someone right did come along he might go a different direction.
Just my 2 cents Many in BR blame bad O numbers on Les. Les is calling to many plays and not letting GC do his job. I think that GC was more on board with Les when he took the job and drifted back to what his beliefs told him to do the longer he stayed at LSU. Les is the head coach and has called games. I have no problem with Les being true to what he sees need to be done on the O side. I have said that I have been told the Gonzales is going to be the next OC. I think we will have a new QB coach and someone that Gonzales can work with. I am sure that Gonzales and Les are on the same page. If Les brings in someone from the outside, I am sure that person will fit the bill for what Les wants to see ran. Les is not the problem !!! Les is part of the fix.
:geaux: Good read on all the OC candidates. FWIW, Stud and Billy G. say they're not candidates. Stay tuned. :LSU231: 2theadvocate.com | LSU Sports | LSU begins talks for offensive coordinator — Baton Rouge, LA
And we scored the most points in LSU history that spurred us on to a national championship. We thank you, Gary Crowton.
And we finished 112th in total offense and he was run out of town. We thank you, Gary Crowton. Auburn and Oregon each took a chance on head coaches and both went to the NC game in the second year. How long should we play?
But guys like Chip Kelly are the exception, not the rule. Gonzales' contributions to this team have gone thus far unnoticed, and his limited background offers little insight as to why such a leap would be made at this level of competition.
I'm not advocating for or promoting Gonzales. I'm just saying that I will be behind whoever Miles hires.
