1. Will Herring doesn't belong on an NFL field
---Worst LB play I have ever seen in the NFL for someone starting at the position

2. Drew Brees/Payton Manning mastermind juggernaut duo still suffer to come up big in the redzone
---The play calling isn't good enough and Drew's decision making is shaky. Sproles wide open in the flat and Brees tries to thread it in between 3 players to Colston instead.

3. Saints have dearly overpaid Jahri Evans and will do likewise with Carl Nicks next year, yet the team still cannot convert on short yardage to save their lives

4. The cornerback play in general has taken a step back. I suspect and hope it's a blip on the radar as most teams will suffer the same consequences vs Rodgers and this Packers offense.

5. The two best QBs in the NFL were being showcased tonight. That was something to watch.

6. Drew Brees might throw for 5000 yards again. 419 vs this really good defense is making a statement early in the season. And I don't think Payton wants to run the ball, he loves the fanciness of the passing game way too much.

7. Saints only had 2 penalties for 15 yards. Offensively, we might be back to 2009 when we were such a fine oiled machine.

Long run outlook: Not too disappointed. Green Bay is pretty solid all around. The rush defense didnt give an A+ effort but it is hard to do that when they can pass at will. Shaun Rogers is terrible though.

I would like to see what the rushing game looks like when they're not down 14-0 out of the gates - and that last play had no chance since Green Bay had 14 guys flying through that gap.

I am still worried about the pass defense, but half of that is defensive line generated and Rogers got rid of the ball pretty quickly. Still think the team is well-built and will do alright this year.

---Worst LB play I have ever seen in the NFL for someone starting at the position Agreed. Add Patrick Robinson to the mix. He reminded me of Jason David. No way he should be the starting corner. Why was Tracy Porter the nickel back?

Can't fault Drew's decision making, but can fault the play calling. Passing when you should have run, running when you should have passed. Peyton tried to get too cute sometimes. I don't fault him for running on the last play at the goal line, but I fault him for trying to run up the middle. Still, if you can't get one yard on the ground, you don't deserve to win. I do fault him for trying to pass on 4th and inches on that earlier drive. Just 'sneak' it and get the first down!

3. Saints have dearly overpaid Jahri Evans and will do likewise with Carl Nicks next year, yet the team still cannot convert on short yardage to save their lives. SO freakin agree. Ever since both got the big contracts, they have no hunger or fire. Get rid of both of them

4. The cornerback play in general has taken a step back. I suspect and hope it's a blip on the radar as most teams will suffer the same consequences vs Rodgers and this Packers offense. I blame ALOT of this on the footing. They were slipping and falling down everywhere in the first half. It wasn't as bad in the 2nd half. I think they changed their cleats

5. The two best QBs in the NFL were being showcased tonight. That was something to watch. Agreed. Can't wait until someone wipes that smile off Rodger's face. There's no denying his talent, but I personally can't stand him

Nicks and Evans sucked last year and didn't start off on a very good foot this year

We were able to pass at will against one of the best pass defenses in the NFL. That bodes well for the rest of the year, but we need to have more balance to have a shot on offense. On defense, it was pathetic. So much for stopping the run and putting more emphasis on the turnover. It's only one game, but it seems to be a carry over from the pre-season.

---The play calling isn't good enough and Drew's decision making is shaky. Sproles wide open in the flat and Brees tries to thread it in between 3 players to Colston instead. Agree. Particularly on the choice to go for the run on the final play. Brees was absolutely in the zone. Pack it in tight and go to Graham on the play action. Brees is the best offensive player in the history of the franchise. He has to be given the opportunity to make a play in that situation. See more in #3.

His play was sadly lacking all last season, IMO, and it appears he's picking up right where he left off. Got his money, though.

To some extent I agree. Greer made some plays last night. Fanatic called out P. Robinson in an earlier post, and he did get an initiation last night. But that's just what it was in his case; he's essentially a rookie, and not many of those are going to hold down Jennings. I hold GWilliiams accountable though. The blitz packages just don't seem to get pressure anymore. And one thing I don't get: we seemed to be playing a lot of soft zone last night. That makes no sense when you consider that the blitz, even if doesn't produce a sack, should at least make the QB hurry his throw. You should be in a press coverage to take advantage. Instead, we're 5 yards off the ball all night. And, getting off the corners for a sec, can someone please explain what this coaching staff sees in Roman Harper?

And I don't think Payton wants to run the ball, he loves the fanciness of the passing game way too much. You could be right, but this is hardly a good thing. We went 8 and 8 the year he threw for 5k, and he threw for so much because, like last night, we were usually playing from behind thanks to our swiss cheese defense.

You must not have watched the telecast. The only QB being showcased was Rodgers. That was the biggest Packer suckfest I've ever seen.

I was very concerned about our defense prior to the game. Rightly so.

True, but its always a suckfest when the Packers are involved. Even moreso now that they're the Defending Super Bowl Champion Packers. I was not surprised by this.

An incredible stat I just saw on SportsCenter. In 2010, the Saints average yards per carry when running the football against a short yardage defense: negative .3 yards a play. Negative! From what I saw last night, that's about right.
