Spot on. Unfortunately the overall, overwhelming, and gullible majority of the American public will never wake up and smell the coffee. It is this knowledge that the majority of the American public’s ignorance that the government relies on to keep their agendas moving to serve their own needs and wants. It is never about what is best for the people, it hasn't been for a very long time.
Which is why I said in another post that it is past the point of "reform" it is now time for replace.
What led us into this mess was pressure put on banks by Democrats such as Barney Frank and Chris Dodd to make loans to people without proper collateral or income, completely ignoring standard banking practices, with the guarantee that if the people defaulted on their loans, Fannie Mae and Freddic Mac would cover the loss. As a result the banking industry including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ended up with a ton of toxic paper. Yes, some Republicans went along with it and shame on them, but this was a Democratic fiasco.
You are trying to rewrite history leaving out the Republicans. It was a Republican Congress under both Clinton and Bush that enabled the mortgage crisis by reducing regulation. It was a Republican President that oversaw the collapse.
Why do Dems always want to give Frank and Dodd a pass? They are the primary reasons for the crisis. Other factors were in place which facilitated the crisis but Gayboy and Countrywide's boy were the chief instigators.
Obama got the pirate situation right. He let the SEALs do their thing and the pirates leave us alone now.
