Is this a weak sonuva b1tch or what? His dumb azz, flip flopping bullshyt is finally bringing down he house. Still using "I" a lot, erroneously at that.
"Chemical weapons can kill on massive scale and not differentiate between women and children"...duh. Tomahawk missles don't? And he thinks just a few bombs is a clear objective. lawd. And lying to the American people trying to spin the "agreement" as a result of "America's threat of force." lmao.
I think Putin bailed him out. In the end, they're going to cut the deal and not push congress to a vote. It doesn't loo like he wins a vote so Russia's offer and Syria's acceptance gives him an out.
Get your head out of the sand and quit listening to dimwits like Limbaugh. If Russia follows through and Syria loses control of the chemical weapons, then America wins, Russia wins, the Syrian people win, Israel wins, and Assad still loses. It will be a diplomatic masterstroke and the credit will likely go to Kerry. But it is obvious to everyone that the thing that made this happen is Obamas' willingness to use military power. The unmistakeable and steady military escalation including the redeployment of serious destructive assets spoke very powerfully. Offering carrots was getting us nowhere. You have to show them the stick. If this ends up with no American war in Syria and Assad without his chemical weapons and the unquestioned support of Russia . . . it will be an undeniable foreign policy triumph for Obama.
Putin bailed himself out. Putin's whole deal is that he thinks Russia deserves the same Superpower respect that the Soviet Union did. But the facts have show that one Soviet republic after another have left the Russian empire and allied themselves with the West. And Russian client after Russian client have been embarrassed and humiliated by American military power. Another Russian-armed, Russian-trained country to look helpless in the face of Western military power and then turn turtle would diminish Putin's image internationally. Putin knows that Assad is finished and he's dancing trying to keep some influence over the situation other than an increasingly unpopular raw UN veto.
You greatly overstate Obama's threat. Putin accomplishing what Obama could not muster the support to do. This is a win for Putin and egg in the face of Obama.
How exactly? Obama made a public and overt threat to use airpower to punish Assad for chemical weapons use. He redeployed 30 ships and an unknown number of combat aircraft to back it up. He started the process of assembling a coalition, lobbying international support in the UN, and getting support from Congress, just as Bush 41 and Bush 43 did to assert their willingness to use power. How exactly has Obama's threat been understated? Putin has accomplished nothing yet. Obama had already forced their hand by swinging The Big Stick. Kerry played a trump card and immediately "mustered the support" of fucking Russia! Previously a foil in the UN Security Council. Sour grapes. Conservatives hate it when Obama succeeds.
Yeah I wasn't suggesting he did it to help out Obama. I'm just saying that their interests may have aligned here.
CBS News estimates Congressional support at about 10 percent. Not likely to get authorization for a strike with those numbers.
