45% DOESN'T CUT IT. This is a Democracy. Majority rules. The Dems ignored the majority at their peril. You only see what little may be good about the bill. You can look past the earmarks, the increased bureaucracy, the unsustainable cost, the methods by which the Dems passed the bill, the unforseen consequences, the known consequences and the ultimate goal of a single payor system. I, and most Americans cannot ignore that. Scrap it and come up with a few reforms that will enable the uninsurable to have coverage. Regulate health insurers so they don't drop sick people who have paid premiums. Enact tort reform so shyster lawyers don't abuse the system. Let the conservatives skin this cat and you'll find that there will be a little meat left on the bone.

The Dems weren't out to fix health care either. They were out to get control over it so they could 'do whats best for us' in the future. Handing out plastic cards with start dates three years from now is not about fixing anything. And spending 9 months on that instead of stuff that actually needed fixing was stupid enough to get them dumped out of office. Obamacare was always about capturing the health care system. You can give low income people health care faster and cheaper with free clinics or any number of other ways. Follow the money. Who did Obama meet with semi secretly multiple times? Why are these policies allowed to be developed in secret? That's unlawful in most places.

Both parties have made the same mistake repeatedly-- they take a small majority and inflate it into some kind of mandate that doesn't exist. This is a democracy, things change quickly. We've seen three dramatic party shifts in 8 years and there are going to be more. The take-it-or-leave-it Neo-con agenda was never going to fly in a disunited country with two large factions. Take-it-or-leave-it-Obama agendas are unlikely to be any more successful. Right and Left wing cores have remained consistent. It is the moderates, who outnumber both conservatives and liberals, that decide the elections these days. Wide pendulum swings from left to right will result as neither party is able to accomplish anything. That swing will not get smaller until some compromises are made by the radicals that the moderates can stand comfortably on.

That's exactly how it works and this election proved it. If Obama had any political savvy at all he would retract it and come up with some thing that the voters want. NOT what Obama thinks is good for them.
