Almost on cue you show up with a lengthy non-reply that doesn't answer any of the questions I posed. If you are going to play this way and use my misspellings on a chat forum as ammunition rather than sticking to the topic then I'm not going to bother. If you decide to make a serious post that addresses what I said then I will happily re-engage.

    LOL....likewise grasshoppa

now, I'm still waiting for Shane to answer my damn question: what is that all of you thought Obama would do, that he has done, that makes him so bad that he is on the verge, or absolutely over the line of, being a socialist.

Read this and see if you notice a pattern NC

Reformism is generally associated with social democracy and gradualist democratic socialism. Reformism is the belief that socialists should stand in parliamentary elections within capitalist society, and if elected, utilize the machinery of government to pass political and social reforms for the purposes of ameliorating the instabilities and inequities of capitalism.

Common social democratic policies include advocacy of universal social rights to attain universally accessible public services such as education, health care, workers' compensation, and other services, including child care and care for the elderly.[112] Social democracy is connected with the trade union labour movement and supports collective bargaining rights for workers.[113] Most social democratic parties are affiliated with the Socialist International.[104]

So new information out on a few Obamacare issues that I think were worth sharing for those who missed it. The states that are having the most success with the ACA are those who actually set up state wide exchanges rather than relying on the federal exchange; some because they believe in things being done better at the state level and others simply because they supported the law to begin with. Either way, my question is why wouldn't the states want to set up their own exchanges. It's a hallmark feature of the ACA and fits completely with the narrative that things are done better at the state level. Second, there has been a good deal of misinformation about the ability of Insurance Commissioners to randomly raise rates, as a few of you have alluded to in this thread, but that has been completely dispelled. One of the major features of the law, in fact one of the features that has already been implemented, is that your insurance company has to spend 80-85% of your premiums on healthcare. If not, they have to reimburse you for the difference. Just this year over 3 billion worth of refunds went out to consumers who didn't use their healthcare enough to justify the premiums they paid and were sent refund checks from the insurance companies. So the notion that anything of the sort is going to suddenly befall the country due to the ACA is incorrect.

On another note, I see that another GOP Senator, Rob Johnson, of Wisconsin have changed course on their opposition to the law and are now changing their tone to include suggestions on how to fix parts of the law that the majority of the public find egregious or that are unnecessarily prohibitive. This is the conversation that needs to happen to create something productive and to actually achieve the goals we set out to achieve of reigning in health care costs without completely socializing the system or compromising the high level of specialty care we have in the US.

And your point is? By your definition, those "universal social rights" you bemoan, are the very foundation of what our country was founded upon: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. You then go on to list several cornerstones of our society for the past 100 years: public education, workers comp, care for the elderly, etc. What is your big problem with these things? These are part of our society and have been long before everyone was so God damned suspicious that our President was a socialist. Further, Obama ushered in only one of the things you are talking about; health care, and even then, and magically without the support or input of one single republican, this so-called Socialist reformed the system so that it preserved the private health care industry yet gave well needed protections to consumers at the same time. Boy, if that sounds like a socialist to you then I guess we all better get in line for a name tag.

Want to know what real socialism looks like? Go look up Brazil.
