The point being if there was ever the slightest chance for this debacle to work it just went down the tubes. With al-sadr calling the shots there is probably more of a chance we are right back over there, and soon.
The truth about Iraq is their people lack the courage and drive to stand up and take control of their own nation. We have spent way too many US lives trying to teach those idiots how to secure their own country. That place is a chaotic, filthy, worthless pile of dirt. Our original intent was to go in and remove WMD, not create an international welfare case (which is what it quickly turned into). We should have pulled out of there in 2005, once we conducted a more than thourough search, and concluded there were absolutely no WMDs. George Tenet, not George Bush, was wrong about the WMDs in Iraq.
Our own inspectors told us there were no WMD's before we ever went in. That ain't what the Senate Report on Pre-war Intelligence on Iraq said. They placed blame both on the intelligence community and the decision makers. Bottom line, it was Bush's responsibility, Bush's decision.
My brother who served 3 tours in Iraq said the locals are stupid and lazy. The leaders are still as corrupt as ever. Spending one more dime is pointless. They will never repay what we have did for them. We will always have military bases spread out there. Pull the troops out of that wasteland now.
Glad we are leaving and our troops and my friends are coming home. Don't care about the stupid politics of it. Bush set this date, Obama followed through. Next we need to get out of Afghanistan and worry about our own **** for a while.
Wrong look it up. Here I did it for you... http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/iraq/index.html
