The details come in this morning. Here is one that should spark some interest: "The Congressional Budget Office also notes, however - and the White House omits - that a switch to the chained CPI will also raise more than $124 billion in new tax revenues. The money will come pouring in because the consumer price index also controls income tax brackets, tax filers' standard deductions, nontaxable contribution limits for 401(k) retirement plans, and more. So millions of individual Americans will see themselves moved involuntarily to higher tax brackets, and middle-class taxpayers in particular will lose some of the tax credits and deductions that they count on. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney conceded as much during an April 5 briefing, when CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Major Garrett asked if it would 'raise taxes on middle-income Americans.' 'I'm not disputing that,' Carney said, adding that 'it is not the president's ideal policy.' It will, however, be part of his budget." Middle class tax increases? The Republicans have something to work with here.
"If you make less than $250,000 you will not see your taxes increased a single dime". But he didnt exclude gas, food, utilities, or insurance.
I have been paying into Social Security since I was 18...that would be 42 years. Not real excited about "cutting" the return on the money I was forced to put in. It is kinda like, "that is my money" he is cutting.
Dude: Check out the NC 12th, or the I-85 district...the work of Dems, when they were in power! The 1st and 3d are not exactly rational, either.
SS and Medicaid should only be called an entitlement to those of us that pay into it, by force at that. To those that live off of it and that haven't paid into it, it's welfare. The Russians know exactly what his plan is. http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/19-11-2012/122849-obama_soviet_mistake-0/
Obama is as good as jimmy cArter at creating jobs. Straight from his own economics adviser. http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=1.xf3D&m=3YzFZuzOYJ9eoYD&b=Ok7V_T.WCI3Q1VPBE2VbGg
But you are forgetting that the vast majority of folks who are on SS are on it because they paid into the system their entire working career. SS is not administered to those who never worked nor paid into it. You've paid into SS your whole working career....when it's your time to retire you are going to want that benefit aren't you? After all, you paid for it.......and so did they. No one wants to see fraud, which does indeed exist and I think all decent people would agree, but by that same token we cannot blame it on those who worked their whole lives and paid into social security and medicare.
It's the people receiving benefits that never paid or paid very little into it that piss me off. Govt never should've gotten into the retirement or welfare business anyway. To many people and companies that have become dependent on taxpayers to fix their mistakes.
