Neither do I. Your odd notion that principles only exist at the extremes is really, really stupid.

i suppose. and i apologize for that bit of rudeness.

but again, i feel like what is considered extreme is arbitrary, and defined by the whims of the time.

How so? It seems pretty simple to me.

the word extreme only means something relative to something else. i feel like the definitions are skewed by whatever current state we are in politically. and i have gone over this a billion times. what you consider extreme was relatively normal at one time and place, and vice versa. what we now consider normal isnt right just because it is normal and typical. i think the size of the government now is extreme. and it isnt "not extreme" just because it is the current state of things and seems normal.

for example, social security is EXTREME. its HUGE, unbelievable massively huge. that it exists seems crazy to me, and it would have seemed crazy to an american 100 years agao as well. why was he wrong? we cant let the current whims define what is extreme and therefore wrong. we need principles.

i know i have said that a thousand times. tirk seems to agree and enjoy it but i imagine the rest are bored to tears.

Of course it is relative, but it doesnt make it irrelevant. The universe evolves and the extremes change. Sentient beings adapt to evolving conditions and and perceive the current state of affairs. Your limited capacity to do this is strange and disturbing. How delightful your polar life might be if you allowed yourself to perceive the shades of gray.

again, my shades of gray are simply between different extremes. i dont let society set my agenda. i dont know how many times i have to explain this.

my "moderate" viewpoints are just as moderate as yours, just as understanding and respecting of both sides, its just that i view the spectrum differently. i dont let the current system tell me what is extreme, i let principles do that.

Red's thinking is that the last administration was so bad that anything now has to be better. Obama is showing him that he's wrong.

i also think red likes to play the rols of the wise sage that examines all sides and adopts positions from each. the tragedy is that the current political situation often has both dominant sides favoring something terrible.

he would geniunely better off swaying more towards lunatics like rex than sitting dead in the middle between neo-cons and modern democrats.

You are no different than anybody else in that respect. Your principles are nothing special. Your insistence that I have none is absurd. You notion that "moderate" must be centrist viewpoints is quite wrong.
