Too early yet to say. Romney would have beaten Obama, I feel certain, but the idealogues couldn't get over 1. Mormanism and 2. Gov. of Mass. and 3. inconsistancy on abortion. After 4 years of BO most would hold their noses and vote this for him next time if he ran. Another candidate will emerge. I personally like John Thune, an attractive, articulate guy.
Yep. The economy should have corrected itself by then, but if not he is in deep trouble. The stimulus package will have minimum effects, all of which have probably already been felt. It will take market forces to turn the economy around; not another stimulus package.
Obama is a sure thing for term number two. The Republicans created a huge mess, have offered no real remedies and have no one even remotely credible to run for a NATIONAL office. Republican and extreme right dialog aside, don't forget that in an election, you have to respond and submit something. You need more than just a snappy sound bite. That is where the Republicans are extremely weak. While the continued move to the right may have merit at the tactical level, it represents an enormous strategic blunder. The problem is that no one with any sense can get any traction, since politics start locally, and locally, the extreme right is dominant. Like it or not, most people are more or less in the middle of the road. Obama, for all his dalliance with extreme left, is much closer to center than any of the Republican names at the moment. Something might change, but as it stands now, Obama in a sweep. hwr
Obama is a sure bet for losing the next election. Without looking at his background and record before he became president, I think the American people are tired of taxes, being lied to by politicians (both parties), and feeling like they are not represented (both parties). I think it's going to come to a massive overhaul soon. Other than that, his poll numbers have sunk dramatically in not even his first full year in office. Also, there are many campaign promises that have not been kept, or outright broken, by him and by Congress.
Ok, take the first part out and what is in bold equally applies to the Democrats. Wow, put down the Obama crack pipe and sober up. Obama is barely to the right of Joseph Stalin to call him anything close to center is delusional at best. Obama is about as close to the center as Rush Limbaugh.
No. The economy and markets seem to be recovering. Oil & Nat. Gas are creeping back up, oilfield activity seems set to rebound. I think things are headed in the right direction.
If Obama continues to fail...AND...continues to blame Bush people will see he's not the answer and he'll not see a second term. If Obama gets lucky...AND...stops spending enormous amounts of money...he may get a second term. Due to racism and stupid people, he already has many votes in his back pocket. They don't care how bad it gets. They'll vote for him regardless.
Of course nothing can be tied back to the stimulus or bailouts (except massive debt) but I'm sure they'll spin it and say it did. :nope:
Purple Tiger: Thanks for dissecting my post. Read your comments again. Did you reference any message of HOPE from the Republican side? No. Did you make any positive statements? No Did you describe any viable alternative and give some policy positions? No Did you mention any Republican candidate that is viable on a national basis? That too would be a no. That is the Republican problem. You can criticize and denigrate when you are out of power, but I don't think you can "complain your way into office." I think you made or at least confirmed my points. Thanks. hwr
