O-line is overrated.

Exactly, whether its Crowton or Stud, the play calling has been very conservative and predicatable. LSU is throwing more but its the same passes weve seen the last few years. Nothing really new.

I'm saying it doesn't matter how great your offensive line is your quarterback cannot continuely hold the ball for 5 seconds without being forced the take a sack or throw an ill advised pass to an un open receiver. I saw this from Alabamas A.J. McCarron against Western Kentucky.

    Huh?

Bullshit. If you O'line is baddass then Mett should have all day. He gets all of 2 seconds and we aren't a quick pass system...

I'm not sure if he is talking about Alabama or LSU....

In any event, after rewatching the game last night, I think that outside of the two fumbles, Mett played pretty admirably. When he had time, he was putting the ball on the money, hitting receivers in stride and making back shoulder throws. We chipped with RBs a lot more than I remembered. Rolling him out didn't work, and we did that a LOT in the second half. I don't blame him for that, though, he just isn't that type of passer. I think the coaches were just searching for some way to neutralize the pass rush without having to leave so many guys in the backfield. Mett was making good throws, but there were more guys in coverage than there were receivers. They weren't able to get enough separation to catch the ball in space and avoid taking a hit that knocked the ball loose.

I think Mettenberger has some maturing to do. The thing that makes a quaterback special is recognizing the blits and reacting as fast as possible. That ball has to be out before the recever comes out of his break or else the defensive back closes in on the passing lane. I'm not bashing Mettenberger by no means. I think he is all we have at quarterback. With a good running game and a receiver who can strectch the field vertically this team will be dangerous.

At what point does do you stop attempting to fix cracks in the roof when the foundation isn't level? Chip Kelly leading our offense won't matter if he can't run his offense. Miles is a great recruiter and a good role model for the kids. He is not a game time coach.

Tbh Miles appears to have lost a lot of fire after winning his NC. He just doesn't come across as a guy that wants it anymore. I want my "Have A Great Day" coach back!

Mett is the problem when we talk about passing. He does make bonehead mistakes, but the Oline and WR's are FAR bigger issues right now IMO.

They create the mindset for Mett feeling forced to make great plays.
