O-line is overrated.

Honestly, I think we threw the ball too much. I might feel differently if we had connected on those passes, but we had 2 backs averaging over 5 yards a carry and threw the ball 27 times.

It's really confusing. We dominated TOP, won the turnover battle, outgained them by double, and needed a safety to win? Perfectly times penalties and fumbles killed us, but this game was almost very different, even with lackluster OL play.

Yes, the offensive line is one of the most import roles, where 5 guys have to play as 1. You hear if very often "winning the battle of the trenches" They need to devolpe chemistry, and form a unit, a line of defense, and of security. The chemistry of your o-line can and will be the difference in many games, especially the close ones. Right now their struggles, are affecting everybody, and I agree, could very well end up costing us a game this season. Our offensive philosophy is designed to be successful behind a great o-line, not a good one, a great one.

I also agree with this and agree big time. It looked like Mett was kept on a tight leash in a conservative play calling manner all game, and then towards the end, was told "go win the game"

And he did! With that pass down to Ware that extended the drive and picked up a huge gain. I think, IMO that might have been the play of the game. Mett showed poise, and patience, didn’t lock on to his 1st option and try to force what wasn’t there, made a good read, and threw a nice pass to move the chains and basically secure the win. As much as Mett needed that experience, and that challenge, Saturday night was still way too close for comfort, and I still think that we are much better of a football team than we showed Saturday night.

The rest of the season will largely determine if I agree with these points. I thought the offense looked good against our only other big game (Wash) this year and hopeful we'll see more of it.

I have a want to give Miles and his staff the benefit of the doubt for playing it somewhat conservative in an extemely hostile environment (1st road game of the year) with an O-Line that is still coming together due to losing the LT (possibly best player on the team) and also with a knicked up Center.

I hear you, but is this statement entirely correct? Kragthorpe was sitting next to Stud every game in 2011 and now he's on the field. I'm wondering if we would be better off with Kragthorpe back in the booth.

I doubt that. Kragthorpe is coaching the heck out of Mett on the sidelines between series. That may be the best place for him.

SEC is known for having fast Defensive lineman. As a quarterback you can't hold on the ball too long and that's what you have been seeing. The inability for offensive coordinators to make adjustments to getting the ball out quicker to the playmakers and quarterbacks holding onto the ball too long.

how is this on the OC? We have been blaming the OC since 08, and since then we have had 3 offensive coordinators, looks like the same ole offense to me. I'm telling you guys and I know it's hard to admit, but Les controlls this offense. He is the man behind it, and is calling the shots, he may not call the plays but I bet the play calls go through him for approval before every snap.

And so it is with every head coach. Stud is responsible for the offense. That's just the way it is. If the offense is underperforming whose job is it to fix that. The OC, that's who.
